WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
This role reports to Sr. Director – Nike Direct Stores, GC and partners closely with the Greater China territory business leader and Nike Direct leadership team. You’ll work across Store Leadership, Marketplace, Consumer Experience, Finance, Planning, etc. teams, while connecting with global and geography Retail Operations partners.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
A commercially minded retail operations leader who combines enterprise-level strategic thinking with deep understanding of store execution. This leader is equally comfortable challenging assumptions in a leadership discussion, diagnosing performance through data and translating direction into simple, executable operating mechanisms for store teams. This person combines strategic thinking, structured program leadership, strong analytical judgment and hands-on understanding of store execution.
The ideal candidate brings sound judgment, curiosity and courage; builds trust across a complex matrix; creates clarity amid ambiguity; use insights to influence decisions, anticipate risk and focus resources on the opportunities that matter most to consumers, teams and the business; shape early-stage requirements, align diverse stakeholders and lead complex initiatives through readiness, go-live, adoption and value realization
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
Strategic advisory and business decision support
- Act as a trusted strategic advisor to the territory business leader and Nike Direct leadership team on store performance, operating priorities, investment choices and transformation opportunities.
- Build an integrated view of business performance by connecting financial, traffic, conversion, productivity, inventory, labor, service and consumer signals.
- Turn complex data into clear insights, scenarios and recommendations, highlighting trade-offs, risks, root causes and actions required.
- Establish forward-looking performance reviews and decision forums that enable timely course correction and disciplined follow-through.
Transformation of PMO and system go-live leadership
- Own the business PMO for major Nike Direct store transformation programs, including new point-of-sale, workforce management and AI-enabled reporting systems.
- Establish integrated roadmaps, governance, milestones, decision rights, dependencies, risk management, issue resolution and executive reporting across multiple workstreams.
- Represent the business throughout discovery, requirement definition, solution design, testing, deployment and post-launch stabilization, ensuring technology choices solve real store needs.
- Lead business readiness across process design, operating procedures, data, controls, training, communications, field support and change adoption.
- Partner with Technology teams on system performance and issue prioritization while maintaining clear business ownership and accountability.
New concept store enablement
- Partner with concept, marketplace, merchandising, consumer experience, technology, finance, real estate and field teams to define operating requirements and launch readiness.
- Develop the operational blueprint covering workflows, staffing assumptions, workforce routines, service model, inventory processes, technology, reporting and governance.
- Identify launch risks and execution gaps early; lead cross-functional resolution and establish clear readiness criteria before opening.
- Lead cross-functional review meetings, assess consumer, team and commercial outcomes, and capture learning for future concepts and portfolio decisions.
Store operations strategy and operating model
- Define and evolve the Greater China Nike Direct store operations strategy in line with territory and broader Nike Direct priorities.
- Translate strategy into scalable standards, routines, playbooks and governance that are clear for store teams and adaptable to different store concepts, cities and trading conditions.
- Own the operating rhythm for peak moments, seasonal transitions, new initiatives and other business-critical events, ensuring readiness and consistent execution.
Performance management and analytics
- Lead store and portfolio diagnostics to identify performance gaps, structural issues and opportunities to accelerate growth or improve efficiency.
- Partner with Finance, HR, etc. teams to strengthen forecasting, scenario planning, investment evaluation.
- Create a closed-loop process that moves from insight to action, measures results and scales proven practices.
Field partnership and execution
- Maintain a strong connection to stores and field leaders, using direct observation and structured feedback to ground recommendations in marketplace reality.
- Equip field leaders with practical insights, tools and routines that improve decision quality and store execution.
- Create transparent feedback loops between stores, territory functions.
People and organizational leadership
- Lead, coach and develop a high-performing Store Operations team, setting clear priorities, roles and standards of excellence.
- Build analytical, commercial and change-leadership capability across the team and wider Nike Direct organization.
- Create an inclusive, accountable environment that enables diverse perspectives, constructive challenge and strong collaboration.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree or above.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in multi-store retail, retail operations, business planning, strategy, transformation or a closely related field, including significant leadership experience.
- Demonstrated ability to advise senior business leaders and influence high-impact decisions through structured thinking, commercial judgment and objective evidence.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to integrate multiple data sources, identify performance drivers and communicate a clear executive narrative.
- Deep understanding of store operations and retail economics, including sales and profit drivers, labor and productivity, inventory flow, service, operational standards and risk controls.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to simplify complexity and influence across functions and organizational levels.
- Comfort operating in a fast-moving, ambiguous and highly matrixed environment.
- Fluency in both Mandarin Chinese and English.
