WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH
The EHQ/EMEA EHS Lead works across Nike's European Headquarters campus and the broader EMEA corporate office network. The role reports to the Global EHS Director and partners closely with site leadership, HR, GPS/facilities, Works Council representatives, occupational health partners, emergency response teams, contractors, professional service providers and regional office stakeholders.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Nike is looking for an experienced EHS professional who can lead safety governance for a complex corporate campus while helping scale practical standards across EMEA offices. The candidate brings strong working knowledge of Dutch occupational health and safety expectations, including RI&E and Plan of Action management, prevention officer responsibilities, employee consultation and occupational health service interfaces. This person is confident translating legal, technical and risk information into clear priorities, communications and measurable action plans for leaders, employees, contractors and business owners.
The role requires specialized depth in EHS, occupational health, risk management, ergonomics, emergency response, environmental controls, contractor safety and regulatory compliance, plus the ability to influence and coach stakeholders in a matrixed organization.
5+ years of practical EHS program development and implementation experience, preferably in a corporate campus, office, facilities, real estate, events, contractor management or multi-site environment.
Working knowledge of Dutch occupational health and safety requirements, including the Working Conditions Act framework, RI&E, Plan of Action expectations, prevention officer duties, emergency response arrangements and occupational health service interfaces.
Ability to interpret Dutch legal requirements, EU occupational safety and health framework principles, Nike standards and external best practices, then translate them into practical EHQ and office programs.
Strong organization, analytical problem solving, documentation discipline and attention to measurable outcomes.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute risk assessments, action plans, training, audits, incident investigations, contractor controls and corrective action programs.
Ability to use KPIs, dashboards, incident data, assessment findings and corrective action outputs to identify trends, prioritize risk reduction and communicate progress.
Experience acting as, working with or supporting a preventiemedewerker model in the Netherlands, including collaboration with Works Councils or employee representatives.
Strong stakeholder engagement with leaders, employees, Works Council representatives, occupational health partners, contractors, vendors and external experts.
Clear written and verbal communication in English and preferably Dutch, including the ability to make technical and legal risk information accessible to non-specialist audiences.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, with additional education or professional qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Management, Environmental Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Ergonomics, Emergency Management or a related field. Relevant Dutch, EU or internationally recognized EHS certification is preferred.
WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON
You will own and continuously improve the EHS program for Nike's EHQ campus in Hilversum while supporting scalable office safety standards across EMEA. You will focus on governance, legal compliance, risk prevention, contractor control, emergency readiness and employee engagement.
Lead the EHQ campus EHS program and serve as the site safety lead for Hilversum, maintaining effective working conditions policy, risk-based controls, governance routines and documented evidence of implementation.
Act as the preventiemedewerker for EHQ, supporting the employer in preventing occupational risks, advising and collaborating with the Works Council or employee representation, and partnering with occupational health and safety experts where required.
Own the RI&E and associated Plan of Action for EHQ, ensuring it is developed, validated where required, kept current, communicated to relevant stakeholders and updated when facilities, work activities, employee populations, events or risk profiles change.
Lead RI&E socialization with the Works Council, leadership teams and accountable business owners, translating risk findings into clear priorities, action owners, timelines, communications and follow-up routines.
Coordinate with certified occupational health and safety experts, the occupational health service or company doctor, and relevant internal stakeholders to ensure EHQ programs meet Dutch legal expectations and Nike global EHS standards.
Manage EHQ contractor safety governance, including contractor onboarding, site rules, risk communication, safe work planning, permit-to-work or equivalent controls, coordination between employers, incident escalation and contractor performance follow-up.
Provide EHS oversight for EHQ renovation, refit, construction, maintenance, new installation and workplace change projects, partnering with GPS Real Estate, facilities and city teams on safe-by-design principles, contractor controls and construction safety standards.
Develop, implement and maintain EHQ programs covering workplace safety, ergonomics, emergency response/BHV, incident reporting, environmental responsibilities, hazardous substances, employee obligations, and safe operation of shared workplace areas.
Maintain oversight of hazardous substances, chemical safety, exposure controls, storage, labelling and contractor-controlled materials relevant to EHQ campus operations.
Lead EHQ emergency response planning, including BHV/emergency response officer coordination, evacuation drills, training, lessons learned and adaptation to operational, infrastructure, climate, natural hazard and security-related risks.
Manage event risk assessments, event safety standards, playbooks and guidance for employee-facing events and brand or sports marketing events hosted on or supported by the EHQ campus.
Lead accident, injury, near-miss and loss-event investigations for EHQ, identifying root causes, determining corrective and preventive actions, confirming closure and sharing lessons learned. Escalate serious cases through Nike legal, HR and EHS governance channels and report to authorities where required.
Develop and maintain EHQ EHS performance tracking and reporting, including incident trends, audit findings, corrective actions, contractor safety indicators and progress against the RI&E Plan of Action.
Lead EHQ committees, consultation forums and communication routines to support employee participation, Works Council engagement and transparent follow-up on hazards, corrective actions, incident trends and improvement plans.
Partner with EMEA Communications to maintain EHS and EMEA webpages so EHQ, regional and global policies, standards, programme materials and local resources are accessible, current and appropriately linked.
Support the EMEA corporate office program across 13 corporate spaces by helping define consistent standards, templates, reporting, training materials and governance processes for office safety, emergency response, ergonomics, incidents, audits and contractor-related controls.
Provide practical EHS guidance to EMEA office stakeholders, facilities teams and business owners, helping them implement local requirements, escalate material risks and close corrective and preventive actions.
