WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

The Engineering Excellence team collaborates with engineers, product managers, and AI platform specialists across Nike Global Technology. This role reports to Senior Director and sits within the AI-Native SDLC and Developer Portal squad, focused on building Pulse, the Nike AI Control Plane, and Databricks-powered analytics experiences.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Nike is looking for a Software Engineer II who is energized by the fast-moving intersection of AI, developer experience, and platform engineering. The successful candidate has foundational engineering skills and a strong curiosity about how AI agents, developer portals, and analytics platforms come together to transform how software gets built. This role is for someone who does not just want to use AI tools but wants to understand how they work, help build them, and shape how they are adopted across a large engineering organization. Prior experience with developer portals, AI integrations, or analytics dashboards is a plus. More importantly, Nike is looking for intellectual curiosity, a bias for learning, and a passion for building tools developers love.

  • 2 to 4 years of software engineering experience; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education, experience or training
  • Working proficiency in Java, Node.js, Golang, React, or JavaScript with demonstrable experience building user-facing or platform software in a collaborative environment
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS preferred), REST API design, and modern front-end or back-end development practices
  • Familiarity with developer portal concepts such as Backstage or internal tooling, analytics platforms, or AI and LLM integrations is a strong plus
  • Collaborative, curious, and motivated to learn quickly in a team working at the forefront of AI-native software engineering

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

You will build features for Pulse, Nike's developer portal, the Nike AI Control Plane, and Databricks-powered analytics tooling. These are platforms actively reshaping how Nike engineers work. This is early-stage, high-impact work at the frontier of AI-assisted software development.

  • Build and ship features for Pulse, Nike's internal developer portal, creating plugin components, documentation surfaces, and integration hooks that make engineers' daily work faster and clearer
  • Contribute to the Nike AI Control Plane by developing interfaces, integrations, and tooling that connect AI model capabilities to software delivery workflows
  • Develop Databricks-powered analytics features that surface engineering metrics, deployment signals, and productivity data to teams and leaders across Nike Global Technology
  • Implement components of Nike's AI-native SDLC platform, building tooling that enables agent-assisted development workflows and helps human engineers stay in control at the right moments
  • Participate in code reviews and technical discussions, learning from senior engineers and contributing to the quality and direction of a fast-moving, frontier-oriented squad
  • Engage with communities of practice in AI/ML, data platforms, and developer experience, contributing to a team culture that prizes curiosity, craft, and continuous learning
