We are in the process of modernizing our entire product data platform, building scalable applications and services in the cloud. Our operations tools are used by hundreds of users across the globe to plan, prepare, and activate Nike products across multiple Nike consumer experiences.  Our product data services are being updated to unlock Omni-channel business cases, and support billions of API calls per month.  This is a team that’s always on the offense, working on innovative solutions and building world class solutions to serve Nike teams and consumers around the globe.

As a Lead Software Engineer for the Geographies & Marketplace Experiences team, you will be part of a mission critical team focused on building a high-throughput, low-latency, fault-tolerant Order Management platform that drives Nike’s Digital transformation and growth strategies.

• A minimum of 10+ years software development experience.
• Experience working in a highly collaborative, multi-discipline development team environment
• Experience working in a distributed/cloud-based environment (e.g. AWS Services, GCE, Azure etc.)
• Demonstrated ability to lead large-scale, domain-driven initiatives—architecting scalable solutions, making strategic technical decisions, and driving cross-functional delivery with deep subject-matter expertise.”
• Experience in micro service architecture, domain driven design, and RESTful Services using Java and Spring Boot framework mandatorily.
• Working knowledge of Java and relevant frameworks for at least 6 years
• Independently drive end-to-end project execution—owning design, development, cross-team coordination, and delivery
• Demonstrate an AI-first mindset, actively leveraging AI powered developer tools (e.g., Cursor) to accelerate development and learning.
• Experience in Test Driven development – with Junit, Mockito, cucumber, Playwright etc.,
• Experience with observability, monitoring and tracing tools like NewRelic, Splunk, SignalFx, Kibana/Grafana etc.
• Experience working with NoSQL data stores like DynamoDB and relational data stores like MySQL, Oracle etc.
• Experience with continuous integration, unit testing, static analysis, and automated integration tests. Continuous delivery experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of Scrum and agile principles.
• Working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment with globally distributed and diverse teams
• Demonstrate end-to-end ownership of project/capabilities that includes requirements evaluation, design, implementation, code reviews, observability, maintenance and support.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or other relevant subject area, or equivalent experience
• Experience with CI/CD (Jenkins) and engineering hygiene: GitHub workflows (branching, PR reviews, code quality, collaboration) and release readiness
• Observability and operational readiness using Splunk and SignalFx, including monitoring and alerting
• Experience delivering Generative AI–based solutions or projects.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

As a Lead Software Engineer, you will be part of the Shared Platforms Technology Engineering team, which is responsible for building next generation tools and services that serve consumer ready product information to Nike experiences and back-end teams.

In this role, you will

• Participate in requirement gathering/elicitation, end to end solution design, development and delivery of consumer service application leveraging backend cloud native micro services
• Contribute ideas for new features and identifying technical areas for improvement proactively collaborating with product team members at Nike to design, develop, and deploy a highly scalable digital asset management system and services.
• You will lead the design and implementation of full stack solutions, partnering with Product Management, UX, engineering, and business teams to solve real-world problems and deliver scalable outcomes.
• You will translate complex business problems into practical technical solutions, balancing speed, scalability, maintainability, and user impact.
• You will define and influence application architecture, establish reusable patterns and standards, and make sound technical decisions that improve scalability, maintainability, and performance.
• You will contribute hands-on across the stack by building responsive frontend applications and robust backend services, while ensuring strong API contracts and system integration.
