Senior Chemical Engineer

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
As a Senior Chemical Engineer in the Nike Footwear Manufacturing Engineering team, you are part of a global team committed to delivering excellence to our product teams and to consumers every day. You will report to the Manager, Chemical Engineering based in Vietnam. You will work closely with teams across the enterprise and around the world - Product Creation, Nike Explore Team (NXT), Materials Supply Chain, Sourcing, Sustainability, Manufacturing Engineering, our Footwear and Chemical vendors.
You will work closely with global cross-functional teams in the Nike organization as well as manufacturing partners and material suppliers. You will engage with Nike leadership and factory teams to ensure best practices are implemented in our factories, utilize chemical and process engineering knowledge to apply research towards the design, development, and scale up of new products and processes with the highest quality.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Senior Chemical Engineer to join the Nike Chemical Engineering Team in Vietnam to help revolutionize the world’s best athletic footwear for the world’s best athletes. You will build knowledge of the company, product, materials, processes and customers, solve a range of product creation and engineering problems and analyze possible solutions using standard procedures while receiving a minimum level of guidance and direction.
Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymer Science, or a related engineering discipline.
Minimum 5 years of experience in product development, manufacturing, or process engineering, preferably within the footwear industry; experience in polymers, plastics, polyurethane, rubber, or related industries is also valued.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and influence teams in a fast-paced, global environment.
Strong strategic thinking, prioritization, and decision-making skills, with the agility to manage changing business needs.
Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical capabilities, including experience with Design of Experiments (DOE), statistical analysis, and data analytics tools such as JMP, Minitab, or Excel.
Effective communicator with strong English verbal and written communication skills.
Customer-focused and collaborative team player with the ability to build partnerships and provide clear direction to stakeholders and factory partners.
Passion for sustainability, continuous improvement, accountability, and developing high-performing teams and manufacturing capabilities.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
In this role you will elevate product quality and drive strategic chemical and sustainable project from concept through commercialization, applying DOE and data-driven analysis to solve product and manufacturing challenges.
You will serve as a functional expert in bottom component technologies, applying chemical and process engineering expertise to develop, optimize, and scale new products, materials, and manufacturing processes.
You will partner with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and factory partners to identify and mitigate manufacturing risks during product development.
You will lead capability building across factory partners, including new facility ramp-up, while ensuring quality, compliance, and engineering best practices.
You will coach and mentor junior engineers, fostering technical excellence and continuous improvement.
