They manage accounting and reporting for Nike's multi-billion-dollar global investment portfolio, debt and equity instruments, and other Treasury activities. They strategize, forecast, audit, analyze, budget, research and lead important decisions. Across Nike's diverse geographies and businesses, Finance employees deliver far more than just the numbers.
Description

As ACCOUNTING DIRECTOR, APLA LEGAL ENTITY + SOURCE TO PAY (S2P), you'll be part of a dynamic team that is driving Nike's international business growth through the Asia Pacific, Latin America (APLA) Geography. You will lead and develop operations to deliver sustainable excellence, in partnership with Global Legal Entity and Controlling Operations teams, across accounting processes, systems and controls to ensure financial statement accuracy and enable APLA's operational and marketplace strategies and ongoing growth.

While mastering and executing the fundamentals will be critical, your ability to operate in a very dynamic environment and work effectively with a variety of stakeholders will also be crucial. You'll need to curate deep business partnerships with Tax, Legal, Treasury, Procurement and Global Legal Entity and Controlling Operations teams and work through a virtual team across the eight international territories comprising APLA.

You'll need a strategic mindset, a bias toward action and change, and a commitment to implementation. You will lead process excellence efforts across APLA Controlling to govern implementation of our strategic plans and manage a continuous improvement program to sustain and innovate the efficiency and effectiveness of the APLA Controlling team globally. You must have the ability to create excellent relationships with teammates and cross-functionally to ensure success of our long-term vision. You should be very comfortable with problem-solving, root cause analysis and bringing innovative and sustainable solutions. Key Accountabilities:

Legal Entity / Account and Record
  • Lead and is accountable for monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and financial reporting deliverables for all APLA legal entities, in accordance with US GAAP, SEC Regulations and Nike Accounting policies
  • Establish APLA governance and review of statutory compliance across all APLA entities
  • Partner with Tax, Legal, Treasury and Global Controlling to develop an APLA LE COE and drive identification of meaningful insights to enable business decision-making
  • Oversee US GAAP accounting treatment of all existing and new tax strategies and contingencies

Controlling Operations
  • Partner with Technology, Procurement, Global Controlling Operations and Source to Pay Operations to develop an APLA Controlling Operations and Systems Baseline Capabilities and Risk Assessment
  • Accountable for understanding vendor management, sourcing/procurement, and payment processes across APLA territories to identify opportunities in risk, efficiency, and effectiveness
  • Develop an APLA optimization strategy about standardization, centralization, and automation
  • Lead deployment of Global toolsets (e.g. e-procurement and e-invoicing) across territories
    Process Excellence
  • Accountable to leading process excellence across territories and development of baseline and ongoing efficiency, effectiveness, and risk measurements
  • Strengthen APLA Controlling's strategic initiative portfolio through the maintenance and prioritization of projects, generating an intake of ideas for process improvements and technology solutions that enhance team productivity and effectiveness
  • Takes lead on moving all the involved team forward through common goals and collaboration,
  • Guides culture of leveraging best practices, Lean methodology, benchmarking, and knowledge of internal or external business issues in root cause analysis and solutions.



Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in accounting or finance in a multinational consumer products company or 8-10 years financial/strategy consulting at a Big 4 firm; including 4+ years proven people management experience

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or equivalent

  • Excellent understanding of US GAAP, internal controls over financial reporting (ICFR) and accounting processes; experience with IFRS-based statutory financials preferred;

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills including ability to effectively communicate financial stories, complex issues, risks, and opportunities with diverse audiences

  • Excellent ability to develop high-impact presentations in PowerPoint/Keynote and tools to communicate strategic plans and vision across the organization

  • Fluent in issue analysis and resolution techniques, experience with Lean or similar methodology preferred

  • Experience with transformational initiatives and tool implementations preferred

  • Demonstrated ability oversee and handle multiple projects, competing priorities and deliverables including project management

  • Excellent ability to develop influential and collaborative relationships across teams, functions, and cultures
