They manage accounting and reporting for Nike's multi-billion-dollar global investment portfolio, debt and equity instruments, and other Treasury activities. They strategize, forecast, audit, analyze, budget, research and lead important decisions. Across Nike's diverse geographies and businesses, Finance employees deliver far more than just the numbers.
Description

As our Accounting Manager in our European Controlling team at the European Headquarters based in Hilversum, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the R2R and Closing process, executing specific accounting functions and recommending and implementing process improvement opportunities for Converse. The role reports into the Accounting Manager - Legal Entity Record to Report.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Coordinate and oversee the R2R process and monthly financial close and coordinate with multiple stakeholders both in Finance and non-Finance, and including Converse HQ Controlling
  • Review manual Journal Entries and monthly Balance Sheet account reconciliations for higher-risk areas
  • Manage 3rd party outsourcing company who supports our transactional work, and ability to provide support / resolve issues either directly or through escalation as they arise
  • Perform US GAAP research on various topics, and accounting memo (as needed)
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of controls and make recommendations on opportunities for improvement
  • Own and drive the key process improvement and standardization efforts in LER2R area
  • Deliver VAT reporting for Converse legal entities, ensuring VAT compliance by working together with a 3rd party consultant
  • Leading the preparation of the external audit, working with colleagues across the Controlling function to provide information in a timely an accurate manner
  • Support in the preparation of Corporate Income Tax returns by providing required documentation
  • Research financial anomalies and make corrections as necessary
  • Work closely with cross-functional counterparts on special projects
  • Be part of the larger Nike Controlling Organization and embrace best practices


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's / Master's degree in Accounting or Finance or related field
  • 3-6 years' experience in accounting, finance or related functions with People management is a must
  • Big 4 Public accounting experience and Certified Public Accountant (CPA/Equivalent) is preferred
  • Experience with a Fortune 500/multinational consumer products company is preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to effectively communicate status, issues, and risks with senior leadership team
  • Leadership skills: ability to manage different stakeholders and team members
  • Advanced ability to handle multiple and competing priorities and requests
  • Strong process improvement, simplification and automation mindset
  • Ability to seek information, problem solve, communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience
  • High level of knowledge of US GAAP & SOX controls and ability to assess on US GAAP matters
