Description

The Nike Explore Team (NXT) Sport Research Lab is focused on conducting basic and applied sport science research aimed at delivering game-changing innovations to make our athletes* measurably better. The Business Operations Manager will ensure that the team maintains a balanced and healthy portfolio of innovation projects. You will provide visibility into research priorities across the lab and implement efficient portfolio management practices in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Reporting to the NSRL Director of Operations, you will support a variety of business operations initiatives. In addition, you will work closely with NSRL Leadership, Innovation Strategy, HR and Finance partners to drive alignment to NXT strategic objectives.

Responsibilities

- Manage project portfolio and partner with project leads to maintain current project status and details.
- Monitor portfolio progress and status.
- Plan and facilitate portfolio reviews to update NSRL and NXT Leadership on project progress. Follow up on meeting actions.
- Provide a strategic view into the portfolio to enable investment decisions by summarizing potential impact and returns.
- Develop and distribute portfolio communications to team and partners, ensure team has visibility to projects, status and resource allocation
- Provide coaching and guidance to research project leads as they prepare for business strategy reviews; support milestone planning to meet project evaluation criteria
- Advise on resource allocation through analysis of headcount forecasting and actuals, project milestone timelines, and external stakeholder deadlines. Facilitate prioritization and resource allocation meetings with leadership.
- Partner with HR to manage and report workforce planning
- Create and maintain portfolio documentation and materials (presentations, templates, dashboards, scorecards, reports) that can be presented to various levels of the organization
- Continuously drive improvement of Portfolio Management process
- Execute additional business operations initiatives at the discretion of the NSRL Director of Operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
- 5+ years' experience in project, program, or portfolio management, business strategy, or related role
- Must have strong business skills and experience
- Ability to develop and maintain trusting and collaborative relationships with project leads, stakeholders, leaders and cross-functional partners
- Familiarity with project portfolio management concepts and methods
- Solid foundation in communications and facilitation
- Strategic mindset with a strong understanding of business operations
- Self-starter with capacity to excel without direct supervision
- Understanding of scientific methodologies preferred
- Must have a flexible disposition, willing to embrace the variable nature of explorative projects while driving strategic advancement
- Preferred qualifications: A PM/PPM certification
- AirTable experience preferred
