Communications, Marketing & Communications

The Nike, Inc. Communications team develops, establishes and strengthens authentic connections with diverse audiences through the lens of innovation and sport. The team creates premium and innovative brand stories, builds and enhances corporate reputation and brand equity, and engages audiences such as consumers, media, athletes, investors, non-governmental organizations and Nike's own employees. The team focuses on information, inspiration and connection to accelerate the growth of Nike, Inc. Communications employees ignite conversations, envision the possibilities, and influence and deliver new levels of creative and strategic thinking to advance the brand around the world.
Description

As our North Central Communications Manager (Canada and US Midwest) you will help manage the communications strategy for the North Central territory, with a core focus on the Chicago market and additional outreach for the Dallas market.

Your focus is to elevate the brand narrative and storytelling within key cities in the Midwest, including Chicago and Dallas, and across the geo in partnership with North America (NA) Communications teams. You are a creative thinker that looks for new ways to engage with media and bring stories to life. An effective candidate has an extensive communications background and has deep expertise in media strategy in the Midwest. You should have experience working collaboratively in a cross-functional, cross-geographical and cross-categorical matrix organizational structure. You'll be responsible for implementing strategies to amplify the brand both internally across the territory (Canada and the Midwest) and externally while using traditional and digital platforms with a focus on creative and compelling storytelling. As a key member of Nike's Communications team, you will work closely with the wider team to manage the implementation of a communications strategy that engages, inspires, and informs audiences across the territory. This includes inputting into direction for key categories each fiscal year and developing seasonal plans in concert with the NY-based media relations and territory brand team.
Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, English, communications, business, or related discipline
  • 5 years + professional experience in a high profile communications role, either in agency or in-house
    • 2 additional years of experience required in lieu of a degree
  • Media relations and Communications planning experience
  • Strong project management experience with events and initiatives across multiple partner relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to network and influence across media, connectors and influencers with a proven background in pitching media
  • Ability to Travel, 30%

Preferred:
  • Knowledge of footwear, design or apparel industry
  • Agency management
  • Experience working on high profile consumer brands
