Description

Nike is a dynamic organization, constantly changing to accommodate its growth and innovation by constructing new facilities, renovating existing facilities and maintaining and improving our work spaces. The Building Safety Program Manager is responsible for developing and implementing all facets of building safety programs and processes to facilitate Nike's fast paced growth in a safe and compliant manner.  There are three primary components of this global role: develop and implement an elite and sustainable construction safety program;  develop and implement a global contractor safety program and develop building design parameters for elements of life safety and accessibility.  This position is also responsible for collaborating with multiple stakeholders on code-based fire and life safety requirements and standards, including business resilience, WD+C and security.  This position is a programmatic role, providing consultation and direction on projects rather than day-to-day safety oversight.  The successful candidate must be an effective leader, equally comfortable serving as the company's building safety lead with senior professionals as with working with construction trades to comply with Nike's safety programs and expectations.   The candidate must have experience in construction and facility safety and be well versed in all applicable regulatory requirements, from building and construction codes to OSHA standards.



Responsibilities include :
  • Develop and implement comprehensive Building Safety Program, which includes Construction Safety Program, Contractor Safety Oversight Program and Building Design Standards. Introduce and implement program to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as primary internal contact on project specific building and construction safety issues.
  • Develop program to handle safety issues with and through contracted Facilities Management service providers.
  • Partner closely with WD+C and serve as primary safety contact on all active projects and the global portfolio.
  • Participate in global EHS programs and initiatives, which includes active participation on committees, contributing to program development and helping to shape global EHS.   Introduce, educate and provide training on global programs and processes as appropriate.  
  • Develop and facilitate internal audits and self-assessments as they relate to building safety.  Assist operations in addressing audit recommendations.

E xperience :
  • 10+ years practical construction (preferably commercial construction) and building safety experience working in environments with world class safety programs.  
  • Detailed knowledge of OSHA regulations and applicable life safety codes including fire, building, and electrical.  
  • Working level knowledge of the International Building Code (IBC) preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop all components of successful and sustainable building safety programs.
  • Proficiency in conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle federal, state and local regulatory compliance and relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively and thoroughly audit facilities as well as assist in addressing audit findings.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop a business case in support of a safety initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop effective standards and work instructions and train personnel with differing levels of education and experience.

Qualifications

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational or Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Construction Management or a related field preferred.
  • OSHA 30 hour Construction Safety training.  Additional relevant training and credentials a plus
  • Associate Safety Professional (ASP) or Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or other relevant local equivalent preferred.
