As Copywriter you will be the voice of the Hurley brand. You love words, writing and get excited about the challenge of developing copy that inspires the consumer. Your role spans every copy need of the brand: from hangtags to emails to billboards and everything in-between. If a word is published from Hurley, it will most likely have come from your desk.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • You'll work cross-functionally with key stakeholders in product, digital, and design to deliver informed, accurate and persuasive copy.
  • You obsess every headline, every product description, every grammatical detail. You are constantly evolving and keeping up with the latest trends in copywriting excellence, bringing in new ideas to the table each and every day to help us be better.
  • You understand nuance in copywriting and how to define and carry out a distinct brand voice across every consumer touchpoint. You work well in a fast-paced environment and can assimilate to a variety of writing styles depending on the medium.
  • Your goal is to ensure we don't sound like anyone except ourselves, and that every word lives up to the quality the brand deserves.

Qualifications
  • College degree (B.A. or B.S.), preferably in English, communications or marketing. Educational requirement may be substituted with equivalent industry-related business experience
  • 2-3 years experience writing copy for a major brand (either as an employee or freelance) or advertising agency.
  • Expert surf industry and product knowledge
  • Engaged and connected in the category community
  • Masterful written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent business writing skills
  • Excellent understanding of social media communication styles
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently and/or in a diverse team environment
  • Capability of making sound business decisions and quickly understanding new information and situations
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize a varied workload
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving skills, analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to reach mutually beneficial conclusions
  • Ability to sit at a desk for long periods of time
  • Ability to manipulate computer tools, communication devices and catalog pages
  • Ability to work weekends and flexible hours
  • Overnight and/or out of town travel may occasionally be required
