Description

Nike's Global Brand Imaging (GBI) provides compelling product imagery and copy that elevates the Nike brand vision. GBI is looking for a Designer/Art Director to help with the development of creative content, and quality control of daily photography production and design output at its new global flagship studio in Los Angeles. As part of the Brand Imaging creative team, you will have a direct visible impact on the public face of one of the world's most coveted and recognizable brands.

The Designer/Art Director will support the Design Director in the creation and presentation of original content and innovative design for an inspirational brand experience. This person will collaborate on producing the complete catalog of visual assets for an assortment of up to 125,000 products per year, to be featured in product detail pages, seasonal campaigns, and marketing materials across Nike's website, apps, and social media initiatives.

The exceptional candidate will have a diverse and well-rounded skill set across fashion image making and graphic design, creating inspirational, contemporary content in collaboration with the creative team. The Designer/Art Director will translate briefs into inspiring creative direction and will work on set with creative teams to produce elevated e-commerce imagery. The Designer/Art Director will possess a high taste level and sharp eye, with well-rounded experience within men's and womenswear model imagery. The ideal candidate is also passionate about user-centered experience design, inspired by curiosity, and able to handle both high-level vision and detail-focused implementation.

Responsibilities:
  • Help facilitate the visual identity and quality standards of all creative assets produced by Global Brand Imaging. 
  • Review and curate ecommerce production imagery on a daily basis, in partnership with GBI internal stakeholders, to ensure all output is consistent with GBI standards. 
  • Work closely with the Design Director across the global Nike enterprise to craft our consumer experiences; with Product Design to ensure that our images authentically convey their original vision; and with Brand Design to uphold a premium brand strategy consistently across platforms, channels, and marketplaces. 
  • Provide on-set supervision of the GBI photography and styling team. 
  • Collaborate with the Design Director to maintain the internal visual identity of the GBI division, in designing and laying out business-critical communications to the company's senior executives on key GBI projects and seasonal directives (i.e. brand style guide decks). 
  • Create and implement innovative design solutions against production workflow, ensuring projects are simultaneously implemented on-strategy and on-time. 
  • Partner with the Design Director to update and communicate project status and ensure a thorough creative review process. 
  • Present ideas and project work for review with design and category partners and update work, as appropriate, to address feedback and changing needs of the business. 
  • Continually seek knowledge and experience regarding Nike's design ethos, the Nike matrix, products and processes. 
  • Keep current with trends in consumer experience, technology, and other related design influencers. 
  • Report directly to Design Director, Global Brand Imaging.


Qualifications
  • 3 - 5 years of editorial and advertising agency experience, with specific creative responsibility on projects from concept to production and post production. 
  • Expertise in both graphic design and photography direction. 
  • Experienced understanding and proficiency of Adobe CC including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Bridge; Sketch, Keynote, and MS Office in a Mac-based environment. 
  • Exceptional talent for understanding both performance and lifestyle sportswear. 
  • Online portfolio that demonstrates broad experience on brand strategy and brand communication. 
  • Experience with on-set standards, best practices, and demands. 
  • Interest in trends and emerging brands, with an insider's perspective on the apparel and footwear markets.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Broad experience across editorial, and advertising sectors of apparel industry. 
  • Commercial reel to supplement still photography portfolio. 
  • Ability to work with creative teams including photographers, stylists, and hair and makeup. 
  • Able to function independently and in a team environment. 
  • Demonstrated project experience with lean production methodologies and continuous improvement / kaizen.
