As our Director of Design Engineering, you will lead our Design Engineering team for Nike's Apparel Innovation Concept Studio. Your team will provide creative insights, research and technical expertise to inspire discovery and experimentation. You will collaborate with multiple stakeholders; including cross functional team members, innovation project teams and category inline clientele. The ideal candidate will meet complex challenges with imaginative state of the art approaches and solutions and must possess a deep knowledge and expertise in apparel design, construction, tailoring, fit and a broad working knowledge of textiles. Your team will create proof of concept prototypes in both digital and physical form.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs Design Engineering team. Sets team and individual goals that align with department and functional goals.
- Strategic thought leadership partner for NXT project portfolio.
- AC3/NXT ambassador and liaison with critical Category Leadership Partners. Comfortable with all levels of leadership communication.
- Establish research and capability roadmap; method of make trends, machinery, software, etc....
- Set Strategic MAKE exploration roadmap to feed the NXT project portfolio and product creation pipeline.
- Resource planning; talent planning, skill assessments, long term workload alignment
- Drive education, learning and development opportunities with clients and staff
- Develop innovation services, processes and products that address current or future studio and client problems and needs
- Lead, set and drive craftsmanship, construction and quality standards and best practices for the studio
- Contribute to org strategic planning
- Drive MAKER/R&D culture

- Bachelor's degree in a design-related discipline.
- Minimum 8 years' experience in a design-related Apparel product creation role, or a technical development role, including 2 years in a management/leadership role.
- Demonstrate technical expertise of all aspects of Make and product creation. Must have a minimum of 2 years of hands-on Apparel construction experience.
- Ability to lead complex initiatives and project teams, to conceive and/or create new ideas, generate consensus, and work cooperatively.
- Expert knowledge of the state of industry, trends, technology and sport and the ability to use those insights to spot new opportunities.
- Ability to travel both domestically and internationally
