To ensure this complex job goes off without a hitch, Supply Chain teams work with a network of more than 50 distribution centers, thousands of accountants, and more than 100,000 retail stores worldwide - making the impossible happen every single day.

The Distribution Center (DC) Transportation Analyst will be responsible for day-to-day execution of inbound and outbound prepaid/prepaid add transportation for their assigned Nike's Distribution Centers, a critical part of our dynamic and rapidly growing NA Supply Chain. Reporting to the Senior DC Transportation Analyst, the DC Transportation Analyst will execute inbound flow to effectively and efficiently minimize expedites. This role will work with cross functional partners to improve SIFOT (Ship in Full on Time) and reduce transportation cycle time by working with DC Managers across Nike's network. In addition to ensuring all Nike prepaid/prepaid and add shipments are shipped on time out of Nike DCs, this role will be tasked to support the development of customer delivery requirements, such as internal reporting or customized transportation metrics. The DC Transportation Analyst will be tasked with improving shipment routing processes with collect freight customers and determining optimal freight terms in support of customer delivery. In addition to being responsible for the execution of Transportation plans for shipping peak seasons and capacity constraints, the operational execution for month/year end for all DC's and modes of transportation is a primary focus for this role. This role will work closely with the Transportation Strategy team to provide input to development Transportation network solutions that meet the current and future needs of Nike and our customers. The Regional Transportation team will escalate DC-related Transportation Logistics Service Providers (LSP's) capacity and service issues (e.g. equipment, no shows) for resolution to the Transportation Operations team.

The Transportation Operations team will provide support to the Nike Distribution network for major components of yard management (Drop yard, Hostling/shuttling trailers, trailer rental providers, LSP's detention (domestic OTR trailers and intermodal containers) and provide reporting and visibility for Yard management costs. Lastly, the team will plan, develop, and implement programs to coordinate movement of product from DC to DC moves for co-loading and multi-stop shipping issues. This role will work closely with the Transportation Ops. Manager to identify and target LSP's that support the mission of delivering premium service.

The Transportation Operations DC Team will support multiple businesses and customers for Nike including wholesale, digital (Nike.com), and Nike retail stores by partnering with the Regional Logistics and LSP Management teams to develop and maintain standardized performance metrics for all domestic carriers.

There are multiple positions available.

Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for on-time pick-up and delivery, and carrier performance for inbound and outbound shipments from assigned DC(s)
  • Serve as an escalation point for Transplace for DC-carrier issues (carrier capacity no-shows); solve for delivery exceptions
  • Execute Transportation plans for shipping peak season and monthly/quarterly/year-end
  • Proactively identify opportunities to minimize expedites
  • Serve as day-to-day point of contact for Transplace Front Line Employees (e.g., field questions, guidance) for inbound and outbound DC carrier issues
  • Provide day-to-day operational support for assigned DC(s) to assess equipment needs and ensure equipment is on hand to meet DC demand
  • Manage flow of inbound trailers from local drop yard into assigned DC(s) and escalate ongoing issues to Sr. DC Transportation Analyst
  • Manage empty carrier container report for Memphis DC's yard to prevent yard capacity issues
  • Track and report empty containers at local drop yard to prevent trailer detention
  • Ensure that all Inbound loads are updated in YMS and processed by DC with FIFO to prevent trailer detention
  • Provide support for escalation issues as they relate to all yard management activities (shuttling, hosteling and rental trailer capacity needs) for assigned DC(s)
  • Proactively identify DC transportation cost savings opportunities (e.g., mode optimization, backhaul opportunities, RTV programs) and raise to appropriate transportation leader
  • Implement continuous improvement activities to improve on operating metrics and performance, specifically related to cost, service, and compliance (e.g. route optimization, carrier selection, backhauls, and trailer loading)
  • Aggregate carrier performance data (late pick-ups/deliveries) from TMS and report to LSP Management to support carrier QBR/MBRs (Note: this data will be used to inform Domestic Transportation business decisions as well)


Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Economics or related discipline
  • 2+ years of experience in direct support of transportation/transportation operations in a Retail/E-Commerce supply chain environment
    • 2 additional years of experience required in lieu of a degree
  • 1+ year of project management experience with an understanding of project management tools and methodologies
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Familiarity with TMS intelligence, Routing, P&L and Budgeting
  • Background utilizing problem-solving skills for root cause analysis
  • Travel, 15%

Preferred:
  • Experience in DC Operations
  • 1+ years of experience in Reverse Transportation
