The EHS Specialist is instrumental in driving the EHS Program at EHQ and support the EMEA Business Continuity team in rolling out EHS initiatives throughout EMEA. In addition, this role is responsible for overseeing the EHQ based ergonomic program. This role works in close collaboration with the EMEA Business Continuity Team and the Global Environmental Health & Safety by driving the implementation of systems and processes to create a sustainable EHS program. The successful candidate will be both an effective influencer, engaging stakeholders from different businesses and geographies and a high performer, capable of working autonomously on various projects.

Responsibilities include:
  • Act as the site Safety Officer including leading Safety Committees, ensuring the required Risk Assessments and Action plans are being carried out and implemented.
  • Develop and drive the implementation of EHQ site EHS procedures in accordance with Dutch regulatory requirements and global EHS standards.
  • Develop training materials to support the site EHS programs. Promote employee awareness of environment, health, and safety through training and communication.
  • Drive the EHQ based ergonomic program implementation by collaborating with an ergonomic consultant to develop and maintain design standards, conduct ergonomic assessments, support program communication and employee training roll out, working in collaboration with Global EHS on global ergonomic standards and approach
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS Performance tracking and reporting progress. (i.e. injury data, accident regulatory reporting), preparing reports as per local legal requirements and global EHS requirements.
  • Serve as primary EMEA EHS lead on global EHS committees to develop standards, systems and tools, assisting first in developing standards, systems and tools and then in implementing them throughout EMEA.
  • Support the EMEA EHS team by leading EHS initiatives and projects across the region.
  • Lead site safety assessments and coordinate EHS audits, including facilitating the process through which business owners close identified corrective actions.
  • Lead Accident and injury investigations to identify root causes, corrective actions and closure of action items identified to eliminate potential hazards and reoccurrences. Review and interpret data from accident and loss event reports and drive corrective actions.
  • Support the EHQ Emergency Response team by organizing regulatory team training, evacuation drills and process improvement.
  • Provide EHS support for Events by advising event planners on Risk Assessments and carrying out site inspections.
  • Manage the EHS & EMEA Business Continuity webpages, ensuring EHQ and global policies, programs and standards are easily found and up to date and local programs are appropriately linked and available.


  • Bachelor's degree in Environment, Safety and Health, or a related field preferred (Safety & Security Management, business administration/project management)
  • 2+ years practical experience with EHS programs development and implementation, including field experience.
  • Knowledge of Dutch occupational health & safety regulations and relevant environmental regulations.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and successfully introduce
  • Proficiency in conducting root cause investigations and in training others' in critical thinking.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communications skills (English & Dutch).
  • Excellent problem-solving techniques and quantitative, analytical skills
  • Adept command of Microsoft Office products, demonstrated ability to quickly and confidently learn new technologies and develop user training materials.
