Description

As an Extrusion Technician, you'll provide technical assistance and support needed to operate machinery within Nike Air Manufacturing Innovation. You'll set-up, operate, troubleshoot, and clean all extrusion manufacturing equipment per specialized standards. You'll fill out production documentation, perform raw material management, conduct mixing and blending of raw material components, manage finished goods packaging, and conduct the grinding of production scrap, in addition to supporting Lean Manufacturing principles. You will provide mentorship to lower level team members.

Key Job Accountabilities 

• Sets up, runs, and adjusts manufacturing equipment per specialized standards on multiple pieces of machinery and/or processes.
• Operates equipment and performs troubleshooting as needed.
• Performs quality checks and examines product for defects (cuts, folds, seals, and perforations) to ensure satisfaction.
• Performs and maintains regular checks.
• Fills out production documentation.
• Takes action to ensure quality limits and productivity targets are met.
• Monitors raw material usage and tracks finished goods inventory.
• Organizes work area and work team maintaining a clean work area.
• Performs total machine clean up.
• Provides direction to entry-level employees as needed.
• Manages change overs and clean ups of machinery.
• Works independently with minimal supervision.
• Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for health, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Trains and provides mentorship to SR PMO's.
• Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
• S heet Extrusion Operation experience a plus 
• Knowledge of multiple platforms. Understanding of how to set up, run, adjust, and monitor multiple areas of machinery. (cross trained in several areas, allows flexibility in running multiple machines).
• Ability to teach and train new production operators.
• Ability to deliver effective feedback while delegating work responsibilities.
• Experience in a repetitive light to moderate manufacturing or equivalent environment.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide decimals and fractions.
• Understanding of weights and measures, including metric.
• Ability to read precision measuring instruments.
• Strong trouble shooting and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent multi-tasking skills in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be comfortable both giving and receiving feedback to peers.
• Must be able to communicate effectively (both verbally and written).
• Act as a team player (Win as a team).
• Must be flexible in regard to manufacturing environment work schedules (weekends, overnights, 12-hr shifts).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• May be required to perform a wide variety of physical tasks which are generally basic, repetitive, and routine in nature. May be required to sit or stand for long periods of time, in addition to being required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, push, or pull.
• Frequently required to reach and use hands to finger, handle, or feel small and medium sized components while operating machinery and exerting force or lift up to 50 pounds. Less frequent lifts of 70 pounds with the assistance of a box lifter or other team member may also be required.
• May be called upon to perform physical and quality checks requiring sufficient visual acuity to identify quality flaws and distinguish colors on small components.
• May be required to work with or near large machinery and moving mechanical parts so they may be subject to higher noise levels and vibration.
• May be required to work with toxic or caustic chemicals and be exposed to fumes or airborne particles while wearing personal protective equipment.
