Global Footwear Product Creation

The first spark of a product idea sets the Nike, Inc. Footwear Product Creation team into motion. The team of footwear developers, testers, engineers and designers strive for product excellence. They obsess over shoes, while collaborating, ideating and refining the product's construction, fit and style. Description

As a Flyknit Engineer II, you will be based in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. You will be a key member of the Asia Flyknit engineering team and directly responsible  for ensuring continuity and adherence to best practices at Knit Centers (KC) during commercialization. You will serve as a bridge between the Nike WHQ teams, Asia based Product Creation Centers (PCCs), and footwear factories. The role will  be a key contact between teams globally; as well as, with other Nike internal business functions.

Responsibilities:

• Review tech packs (TPs) sent from the WHQ Flyknit team at key gates (PR, PRO, KAPM, RFC) during development

• Troubleshoot issues the KC team has in achieving standards set in TP and provide oversight to ensure all Flyknit best practices are followed

• Partner with the Nike Asia Programmer and KC team to provide feedback to the WHQ Flyknit team (with focus on potential repeatability/manufacturability and grading issues)

• Partner with the KC Project Manager to create/manage the commercialization timeline. Publish the timeline to all stakeholders (PCC, footwear factory, WHQ Flyknit and WHQ Category teams) and assist as any changes occur

• Advise the team during grading to ensure that all the properties of the model size are maintained across the full-size range

• Sign off on FSR uppers at KC prior to shipping to footwear factory for trial

• Attend Asia based FSR trials and collaborate with both footwear engineering and knit experts to resolve issues

• Work with Cost Engineering to verify that all quotes from KC are accurate. Optimize processes/jigs to support cost reductions as appropriate

• Help to ensure all feedback from the footwear factory + WHQ team is incorporated into the Flyknit product. Give final review and sign off on all materials before knit production (patterns, jigs, PFC, Inspection Guidelines, etc.)

• Liaison to the Nike Partner Management Office engineering team

In addition, you will be responsible to analyze all current Flyknit processes and best practices to drive improvements in commercialization and in manufacturing where applicable. Moreover, a strong line of communication is required to regional teams to answer Flyknit questions or rectify Flyknit issues expediently. This role requires you to perform well in a fast paced, matrix organization and to operate independently with minimal guidance. 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or a minimum 5 years directly relevant work experience in the knit industry and/or in process or manufacturing engineering

• 2 years direct experience in Flyknit Footwear is preferred

• Leadership and/or management experience preferred

• Knowledge of the Nike footwear development process, calendar, and key dates/gates required

• Solves complex problems, takes a new perspective using existing solutions

• Sound project management skills

• Advanced understanding and skills in pattern engineering

• Leads or supports technical training; Provides guidance and acts as a resource for colleagues; May direct the work of other staff members

• Effective oral and written communication skills

• Proficient with MS Office and experience with 2D/3D CAD/CAM and footwear engineering software - Dimensions! PROCAM preferred.

• Ability to travel international as needed (20%)
