Nike attorneys, paralegals and other specialists in law provide inventive approaches and superior counsel to Nike's global businesses. GP&A employees establish and strengthen key relationships with opinion leaders, law and policy makers, and international and local stakeholders to influence public policy and laws essential to the success of the company. As the architect of a comprehensive enterprise-wide EHS strategy, the global Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Director is responsible for leading a staff of safety professionals to develop a global EHS management framework and global standards to align the EHS approach across many business operations. The successful candidate will demonstrate a history of being an effective and agile business partner, an effective change agent and have experience developing and implementing global management systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Develop and implement an enterprise-wide global EHS strategy with an articulated plan for evolving from compliance-based safety to an elite safety culture. Serve as functional lead in presenting EHS initiatives and updates to business leadership, as needed.

- Develop and implement global EHS standards, creating clear templates for field customization across 5 different businesses.

- Develop, implement and sustain enterprise-wide tools and platforms, including electronic safety management system, contractor safety oversight, chemical management and ergonomic platform, staying abreast of emerging technologies and applications.

- Serve as COE lead for field-based EHS professionals and businesses and chair of enterprise-wide EHS Steering Committee

- Build strategic plan and budget for global function and collaborate on strategic plan and budget for business-based EHS functions.

- Develop and implement global KPIs, report on KPIs internally and externally, as needed, including internal business updates as well as annual Impact Report.

- Develop global consulting resources and tools.

- Serve as functional lead for business functions without dedicated EHS professionals, accountable for providing EHS resources and oversight to support their operations.

- Identify and engage cross functional stakeholders to drive continuous improvement and integration of health & safety into business decision making.

WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE

- 10+ years practical EHS experience supporting a large global company to implement elite safety programs in a R&D, manufacturing, distribution and/or retail setting.

- Detailed knowledge of US and international safety regulations as well as other applicable industry environmental, health and safety standards

- Demonstrated ability to develop all components of successful and sustainable safety programs

- Demonstrated experience in driving cultural change in a large, matrixed environment

- Experience effectively leading global teams with both direct and indirect reporting relationships

- Demonstrated ability to develop a business case in support of EHS initiative

SKILLS:

- Proven leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated abilities both to work collaboratively and to influence those with whom no formal hierarchical relationship exists

- Highly effective written and verbal communications skills, able to present complex issues simply and to effectively reach audiences with different perspectives and educational backgrounds.

- Proven ability to influence business leadership

- Excellent problem solving techniques and quantitative, analytical skills

- Strong decision making and problem solving skills, attentive to details, work well under pressure and able to meet deadlines

- Ability to organize and manage a complex workload and projects in a fast paced, matrixed organization

- Adept command of Microsoft Office products, demonstrated ability to quickly and confidently learn new technologies.

EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND:

- Bachelor's degree in Occupational or Industrial Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Industrial or Chemical Engineering or a related engineering field preferred
