INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING INTERN

As our Industrial Engineering Intern, you will join the team to assist in the optimization of manufacturing cells and processes related to the production of Nike Air. Your work could include performing technical studies, observations, and analysis of data to assess opportunity or support optimization of the flow of people, materials, and/or product in the process of manufacturing Nike Air. This may also include providing input related to optimizing the layout and staffing of manufacturing cells to reduce waste or activities that do not add value to our products. You will be mentored by your industrial engineering and cross functional teammates and use your engineering skills to execute against product development or continuous improvement efforts as dictated by the program(s) to which you are assigned. Your work may also include using IE tools to facilitate the development of new processes (or process changes) to improve efficiency or throughput in production. You may be expected to influence teammates in production and engineering to recognize the value which result from following specific processes or sequences aimed at improving productivity, increasing efficiency, and/or reducing waste. Alongside your industrial engineering teammates, you will work some or all of the following teams throughout the phases of the project(s) or program(s) to which you are assigned: engineers (quality, automation/equipment, process, development, design, costing), the in-house machine shop, finance, and production teams.



ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Knowledge of fundamental IE concepts (process analysis - i.e. time and motion studies, waste identification, DOEs and experimentation, etc)


MANUFACTUING PROCESS ENGINEER

As our Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will join the team to assist in the manufacturing of products related to Nike Air and to Footwear. Your work could include process development, tooling optimization, production support etc. You will be mentored by your process engineering and cross functional teammates and use your engineering skills to execute product development or continuous improvement efforts as dictated by the program(s) to which you are assigned. You'll use engineering and/or machine knowledge and ideas, additive manufacturing technology, and hands on experiences to design, refine or modify, and carefully document machine processes and parameters. Alongside your manufacturing engineering teammates, you will work with other engineers (development, design, and quality), the in-house machine shop, and production teams throughout the phases of the program(s) or project(s) to which you are assigned.



ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, industrial equipment, and concepts such as Design for Manufacturing/Assembly



QUALITY ENGINEER

As our Quality Engineer Intern, you will join the team to assist in managing the outgoing quality of manufactured products related to Nike Air and to footwear. Your work could include working with manufacturing engineering team in process development, supporting continuous improvement efforts in manufacturing or lab, working on finding root cause analysis, as well as production support. You will be mentored by your quality engineering and cross functional teammates to use your engineering and data analysis skills to execute and drive decisions on product(s)/project(s) alongside your manufacturing and quality engineering teammates.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Knowledge of statistics application and/or experience with statistical software is preferred

AUTOMATION ENGINEER

As our Automation/Equipment Intern at Air MI Manufacturing, you join the team to assist in one or more of the following areas: design, build/purchase, and install new production equipment. You'll provide technical support to maintain, repair and/or replace equipment and tooling, as well as, modify existing production equipment to improve both reliability and functionality. A requirement for this position is a demonstrated ability to understand, create and/or modify electrical control systems for industrial equipment including robotics. This includes panel layout, schematic drawings, PLC, HMI, pick and place, and robotic software creation, including vision guided robotic systems. In addition, you will help drive engineering activities for new products. You'll support prototype development runs and drive commercialization of new processes and tooling while utilizing Lean Manufacturing methods to minimize waste and maximize efficiencies.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience in designing electrical systems for industrial equipment required
  • Experience in programming
  • Experience with troubleshooting industrial machinery which requires strong knowledge in both electrical and mechanical systems

The Manufacturing and Sourcing organization is looking for dynamic interns to join their teams across a variety of functional areas including AIR Manufacturing Innovation (AIR MI), Footwear Manufacturing, Apparel Manufacturing, and Product Integrity.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in with an anticipated graduation of December 2020 or Spring 2021
  • Preferred degrees include: Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering. Manufacturing, Materials, Plastics, Polymers, or similar field
  • Experience working in a high-volume and/or high mix manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Ability to analyze problems, assess data, use basic math and statistics, and deal with ambiguity and frequent changes in priorities
  • Knowledge of sporting goods products preferred
  • Ability to handle multiple competing projects simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Energetic team player who is eager to learn
  • Passionate about Nike products and the consumer
