As our NIKE Sport Research Lab (NSRL) Senior Researcher, you will be responsible for executing research programs (comprised of both applied and basic research) aimed at delivering confirmed performance insights that will lead to technologically innovative footwear, apparel and equipment that are globally relevant. You will work closely with the Principal Researcher to create a research vision and plan. You will act as a creative scientist - questioning methods, results and applications - and think outside normal paradigms to find creative ways around barriers to enhancing performance or preventing injury. You will participate in the development of new tools, methods and procedures that will streamline data acquisition. In addition, you will become a resident authority for all of the biomechanical research tools used by the Nike Sport Research Lab staff. You will lead in the area of your program as a full-time member of the Product Creation Process, interacting with Principal Researchers and Product Innovators in all phases of research to provide a holistic evaluation of innovation concepts. You will demonstrate Nike's commitment to product performance research through attendance at scientific meetings, clinics and conferences, and by communicating research findings and insights to diverse audiences.

WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE

• PhD. in Biomechanics, or related field including Engineering, Kinesiology, Anthropometry, Human Factors, or Ergonomics year of relevant work experience or five years of relevant work experience in lieu of a graduate degree
• M.Sc. in Biomechanics, or related field including Engineering, Kinesiology, Anthropometry, Human Factors, or Ergonomics plus two years of relevant work experience or five years of relevant work experience in lieu of a graduate degree
• Possess a thorough understanding of anatomy, biomechanical principles, experimental design and statistical procedures
• Significant experience writing code to analyze datasets is strongly preferred (Matlab, Mathematica, Labview, C/C++, or Python)
• Demonstrate an understanding of sport performance, soft tissue & rigid body motion, and injury mechanisms
• Experience using research to directly impact consumer products and/or product creation (traditional & digital) preferred
• Advanced knowledge and experience with tools used to collect biomechanical data (e.g. motion capture, force plates, IMU, pressure, EMG, etc.)
• Knowledge of apparel product creation processes is a plus
• Ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously
• Demonstrated experience being a creative scientist - ability to apply scientific insights to performance product, and ability to problem solve are key
• Good communication and people skills; evidence of translation of science to product
• Experience of working with external partners
• Experience working with test subjects
• Up to 20% travel availability
