The NIKE, Inc. Supply Chain team is the engine that propels product around the world. Supply Chain experts ensure that every year, almost a billion units of footwear, apparel and equipment arrive at the right place, at the right time. To ensure this complex job goes off without a hitch, Supply Chain teams work with a network of more than 50 distribution centers, thousands of accountants, and more than 100,000 retail stores worldwide - making the impossible happen every single day.

The Omnichannel Transportation Director will be responsible for the development and piloting of transportation strategies to support Nike's omnichannel strategy. The individual in this role will partner with numerous cross-functional teams to deliver a seamless, multi-channel shopping experience for our customers and consumers. As part of this role, the Director will act as the cross-functional Transportation project lead for key strategic initiatives. This individual will be responsible for growing and leading a remote team based in Nike Key Cities. Individuals on the team will work closely with Marketplace Operations teams to identify customer/consumer requirements and translate requirements into logistics action plans. The Director will be responsible for identifying local last mile delivery requirements, returns and replenishment strategies. The Director will also be responsible for partnering with Nike Distribution and Store Operations team members to ensure customer/consumer service requirements are achieved, and the Nike Global Transportation team to ensure the North America (NA) omnichannel strategy is aligned with the Global organization.

The key responsibilities for the role fall into three categories. They are:
Strategy
  • Define omnichannel transportation goals and objectives for NA Transportation
  • Work cross-functionally with the Nike Marketplace Operations (MPO) and Digital teams to develop strategy
  • Define, develop, and implement the transportation standards & processes required to deliver on Nike's omnichannel goals
  • Track industry trends and recommend new opportunities to enhance reliability, speed, and flexibility in final mile transportation
  • Partner with finance to develop and track overall transportation finances to support the program
  • Develop final mile transportation strategies for direct-to-consumer deliveries in key cities (near-term: LA, NYC) in partnership with Transportation Strategy & Analytics and Nike Direct leadership
  • Partner with Transportation operations leaders to identify opportunities for cost efficiencies in digital deliveries
  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with NASC counterparts (e.g., Nike Direct, Distribution, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain strong business relationships with external omnichannel partners
Operations
  • Lead the planning and pilot of new omnichannel transportation strategic initiatives in key cities
  • Support the Transportation Strategy & Analytics team to execute portfolio transportation strategic initiatives requiring local market expertise (e.g., ship from store, city service centers)
  • Provide operational support for direct-to-consumer deliveries from Nike stores and/or city service centers
  • Provide transportation logistics support for local market events in key cities (e.g., pop-ups, promotions)
  • Provide North America Supply Chain (NASC) teams with transportation forecasting inputs for digital deliveries (e.g., Retail)
  • Provide operational performance metrics and insights to Transportation Strategy & Analytics team
Talent
  • Promote collaboration mindset within and across NA Transportation and Trade teams
  • Demonstrate leadership behaviors expected by NASC and Nike culture
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to all direct reports to maintain an engaged, empowered, and productive team
  • Promote skill-building and capability development opportunities
  • Collaborate with direct reports to establish clear and concise development goals and plans; evaluate progress regularly


WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE:




Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Economics or related discipline
  • 7+ years of experience in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, and/or Transportation
  • 2 additional years of experience required in lieu of a degree
  • Demonstrated omnichannel transportation experience with knowledge of omnichannel fulfillment strategies
  • Transportation operations experience
  • Experience leading a large team of direct reports with broad range of experience
  • Experience in developing and managing budgets, with P&L responsibility
  • Demonstrated understanding of broader supply chain operations, industry trends, and the customer journey
  • Travel, 30-40%
Preferred:
  • MBA in Supply Chain, International Business, Economics or related discipline
  • Experience building a new team and/or capability within an established organization
  • Experience in procurement and/or contract management
