Description

As a key member of the Intellectual Property (IP) Transactions and Patent team, the Patent Data Analyst will play a critical role in ensuring we are able to protect our innovations efficiently and effectively. You will work closely with other members of the team to ensure that our patent prosecution process is conducted efficiently and that our patent-related data is accurate. To be effective, you must be a self-starter, process and data-driven, and comfortable working with teammates across different functions and levels.

Under the supervision of the Assistant General Counsel, Patents, overseeing Patent Operations, and in collaboration with the team, some of the core responsibilities of the Patent Data Analyst will be:
  • Design and prepare reports to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the utility patent portfolio and prosecution and payment processes.
  • Manage, review and confirm payments of utility patent annuities handled by our vendors.
  • Generate and review reports to provide problem-solving data regarding our patent assets. 
  • Develop and maintain a patent records administration process.
  • Document and process information related to errors made by partner firms. 
  • Assist the team in identifying gaps and solutions in workflows and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Patent Operations Manager to conduct system reviews to improve data accuracy (priority and expiration dates) in the system.
  • Generate critical thinking reports related to our patent filing trends.



Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 4+ years of experience as a patent paralegal either in-house or in private practice.
  • Experience with IP portfolio management databases; experience with Anaqua and with instruments such as Legal Tracker preferred.
  • Very thorough interpersonal skills including ability to interact with a wide array of individuals having expertise in areas of design, science, engineering, finance and IP law.
  • Ability to adapt in a continually-evolving, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills, multi-taking skills, and attention to detail.
  • Self-starter in addition to working well with team members.
  • Willingness to provide assistance outside of defined job description.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to effectively manage and prioritize a high-volume workload, work well under pressure in a fast moving environment, and meet deadlines.
