About the role

Through strong partnership with Leaders and Teams from across Human Resources, Operational Services and Core HR Operations, the Payroll Manager, Asia Pacific will lead a team of Payroll Specialists responsible for delivering exceptional customer service and consistent high-quality time & pay services for Nike's operations across  Asia Pacific; Japan, Singapore, Korea, Australia and New Zealand and Southeast Asia and India.

Simply - this role will ensure the timely, accurate and compliant distribution of total rewards (including salary and benefits) for employees.

The Payroll Manager must exhibit strong payroll background, a proven track record of success in building stakeholders' relationships, and excellent people management capabilities. In this role, it is essential to be able to drive alignment across different functions, think quickly, and act decisively in a fast-paced environment while responding to continuously shifts across the business.

This role (based in Singapore) will be an integral member of the Asia Pacific Core Human Resources Operations team, reporting to the Asia Pacific Payroll Director.

Responsibilities


  • Research external best practices and continuously challenge the status quo by championing new, creative ideas through well structured, supported, and clearly articulated points of view, balancing risk, reward, and trade-offs.

  • Establish and maintain competency in multi-country payroll requirements and government reporting regulations affecting payroll delivery.

  • Continuously review and identify current payroll processes and recommend improvements, as needed.

  • Establish positive partnership with peers and functional leads in HR, Finance, Treasury, Legal.Manage relationships with payroll service providers ensuring compliance with processes, legislative requirements and service expectations.

  • Develop and maintain a team of payroll specialists with multi-country payroll skills. 

  • Ensure team is properly trained and equipped with the skills and competencies needed to deliver results; set clear objectives and manage performance; and provide positive working atmosphere for personal and career growth.

  • Provide leadership and direction through promoting a globally aligned and consistent approach to payroll delivery across all countries in Asia Pacific; Japan, Singapore, Korea, Australia and New Zealand and Southeast Asia and India.






    Requirements


    • Degree in HR, Accounting or Finance is preferred.
    • Minimum 7 years of varied/progressive Payroll, HR or related experience, including 3 years' experience in managing regional payroll operations in a multinational, shared service or service provider environment. Working knowledge of SAP HR preferred.
    • Comprehensive understanding of country level legislation and regulation across Asia Pacific.
    • Proven ability to identify and resolve technical, operational and organizational problems with the ability to make astute decisions guided by policies and business procedures.
    • Ability to effectively interface with external and internal parties at multiple levels.
    • Possess good cultural sensitivity and ability to adapt to multi-cultural environment.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including outstanding execution, timely and thorough follow through of tasks.
