Sr. Software Engineer - Connected Product Global Technology

As a Software Engineer, you will be part of the Connected Product Global Technology Incubator team focused on building and running prototypes, proof-of-concepts, and initial pilots of new hardware and software technologies to enable accelerated implementations for the Connected Product Transformational Initiative. In this role, you will do hands on development of new hardware and software technology solutions.

While investigating new technologies you will collaborate with domain engineering and enterprise platform teams. Ability to learn and fail quickly is paramount in building experience in where new technologies are valuable and where they need to mature. Technical and functional demos and stakeholder feedback will be frequent, in order to understand immediate needs and changes.

Successful candidates will exhibit the following qualities:
  • Have experience in software engineering practices, particularly on distributed systems and cloud native architectures.
  • Experience with API development for performance.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, to a team or executive level.
  • Background in rapid software and prototyping
  • Develop tools and frameworks to improve security, reliability, maintainability, availability and performance.
  • Be a key contributor to overall architecture, framework and design of final product post prototyping.


WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE:
  • Masters' or Bachelors' degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in large-scale software development with emphasis on data analytics and high-volume data processing
  • 2+ years of experience architecting and building scalable architecture
  • 2+ years of Hands-on experience with AWS
  • Good understanding of AWS technologies including but not limited to EC2, S3, DynamoDB, ElasticSearch, SQS, SNS and Lambda
  • Experience with both relational and No-SQL databases
  • 3-5 years of experience in languages like Python, GO, Groovy, Ruby, JavaScript, Java, Scala and Node.js
  • Experience with RFID, NFC, IoT, and mobile device development plus.
  • Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes or other container technologies
  • Exposure to Agile and test-driven development, ideally knowledge of the SAFe methodology
  • Exposure to hierarchical and distributed code repository management tools like GIT
  • Great communications skills
