As a Software Engineering Manager of the Identity team, you will be responsible for systems that power our 1:1 relationship with the consumer. In this role, you will lead an all-star team of back end developers that create artifacts developed in a cloud native AWS environment. Serving the consumer starts with knowing the consumer, and this team will be directly involved with enabling the consumer's relationship with Nike. All of Nike's experiences that store or retrieve consumer information will be hitting these APIs, and frequently at "Nike scale." These APIs must be highly reliable and highly performant, so cloud native application development best practices will serve you well here.

Manage the development of delivery of systems that enable all things login and registration.
Partner with the Product Owner to ensure delivery of a best in class login and registration system.
Assess business requirements, deliver designs, and estimate engineering effort from both a time and cost perspective.
Improve the application team's technical capabilities by establishing best practices, mentoring team members and recruiting new employees
Create and foster an inspiring development environment.
Practice DevOps ensuring a culture of testing and releasing software on AWS continuously using automation and monitoring.
Partner with other engineering and product teams to loosely couple and scale the service ecosystem
Previous experience of leading and managing an engineering team.
You are comfortable providing guidance and mentorship to your teammates and colleagues across the organization. You lead by example and set clear expectations.
Expertise and strong understanding of AWS cloud engineering and some of the tools that AWS offers.
Fluent understanding of development languages including Java 8+, Node.js and ability to understand clean, eloquent, minimal code in a load-balanced environment to achieve value added business outcomes.
Had experience building Simple/Intuitive APIs for a very large developer community.
Experience with NoSQL datastores.
You understand scalable, highly available, and eventually consistent distributed systems.
Experience, interest and adaptability to working in a Waterfall or Lean/Agile delivery environment. Strong preference for SCRUM/XP development expertise.
Exceptional collaboration, listening, written and verbal communication skills
Successful track record collaborating with product owners, product managers and business subject matter experts to ensure delivered solutions optimally support the achievement of business outcomes.
Passion for coaching, teaching, mentoring and learning.
Commitment to collaborate with the team to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.
Knowledge of authorization and authentication protocols such as oauth2 and OIDC.
