The Nike, Inc. Communications team develops, establishes and strengthens authentic connections with diverse audiences through the lens of innovation and sport. The team creates premium and innovative brand stories, builds and enhances corporate reputation and brand equity, and engages audiences such as consumers, media, athletes, investors, non-governmental organizations and Nike's own employees. The team focuses on information, inspiration and connection to accelerate the growth of Nike, Inc. Communications employees ignite conversations, envision the possibilities, and influence and deliver new levels of creative and strategic thinking to advance the brand around the world.
Description

The Senior Director of Leadership Communications is part of the Global Employee Communications team.



The core focus of the Leadership Communications Senior Director role will be to lead and drive an executive communications strategy globally to connect and engage with NIKE, Inc. employees around the world.

The Senior Director of Leadership Communications is responsible for the following:

Creating a strategic communications plan to showcase NIKE, Inc. leaders to employees and drive key narrative and storylines. Partner with HR to drive Nike's marquise Reward and Recognition program to engage and inspire employees.

Support all communications for NIKE, Inc.'s President of Consumer and Geographies.

Create strong narrative for Nike internally and externally from a leadership lens, including driving media interviews and externally speaking engagements when appropriate.

Lead, drive and inspire diverse, global leadership communications team.

The work will also include overall communications support for the team including writing, Q&As, press releases and speech writing.

The person in this role should have strong experience in senior level communications and strategy, leading a team, managing complex information, message development and excellent writing skills. This role requires a very strong communicator with deep multi-channel experience and C-Suite executive communications support.


Qualifications

Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, PR, English, communications, business, or related discipline
  • 15+ years professional experience in high profile corporate communications or public relations roles supporting globally branded organizations, extensive experience in employee communications
    • 2 additional years of experience required in lieu of a degree
  • Successful experience in working effectively at a senior level with a proven ability to help provide guidance and direction to peers
  • On the ground media/PR experience with ability to communicate clearly as a company spokesperson both on and off camera
  • Deep understanding of both evolving consumer communications environment and digital landscape
  • Successful experience in working effectively at a senior level with a proven ability to help provide guidance and direction to peers
  • Ability to Travel, 20%

Preferred:
  • Professional experience with a focus on supporting C-Suite executives
  • Experience working on high profile consumer brands
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate plans across a complex matrix on a corporate, regional and functional basis, including presenting before audiences of various sizes and cultures
  • Ex perience initiating and overseeing the ideation process and contributing meaningful, innovative strategies to the business at concept stage
