The Nike Digital team powers Nike's global community that provides unparalleled access, benefits and services to athletes of all levels. Whether it is Nike mobile applications, digital brand experiences or consumer interactions, the team helps athletes stay motivated, challenged and connected. The Nike Digital Engineering (EMEA) is looking for a Tech Lead focusing on backend.

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses a well-defined problem and leads the development of a technical solution that meets the needs of the business and aligns with architectural standards.
  • Conducts ongoing analysis of organisational needs and objectives and monitors operating efficiency, implementing and/or proposing any necessary changes to ensure effective performance of an installed system/subsystem.
  • Leads design sessions, facilitating the integration of ideas from colleagues
  • Manages small-to moderate-sized solutions, or plays a key role on larger teams.
  • Provides leadership within the squad/work team, with accountability for ensuring that work is on track (e.g., driving backlog refinement), required functionality and an effective user experience are delivered, and upstream and downstream interdependencies are accounted for, making certain that solutions delivered integrate effectively with adjacent solutions/technologies.
  • Provides guidance and development support to more junior team members.
  • Ensures knowledge sharing within the team
  • Presents and shares work with colleagues for mutual review and education
  • Functions independently, with limited work direction
  • Works with Product Owner to understand requirements.
  • Participates in sprint planning and other scrum ceremonies. Support team to plan and execute sprint tickets.
  • Works in Dev-ops model and distributed engineering model

Requirements

  • 3 years of experience in Tech Leading position
  • 5 years of server-side software development experience
  • 5 years of experience in programming, in (but not restricted to) Java, NodeJS
  • Experience in leading small sized teams / components
  • Solid expertise in building scalable, distributed, loosely coupled systems
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS), database technologies (AWS DynamoDB, AWS RDS etc.), micro services architectures and RESTful services
  • Experience with continuous integration, unit and integration testing
  • Knowledge of serverless computing (AWS Lambda, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Scrum and agile principles
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
  • Excellent communication skills
