WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

The Global Brand Design, Brand Initiatives team, part of Nike’s Brand Creative organization, delivers world-class creative executions and rich storytelling against all future & early incubation brands.

You will partner with Sr. Creative Directors, Art Directors, Digital Designers, Narrative & Voice Directors, Social Creatives, Brand Creative Leadership, Digital & Brand Marketing Directors, Production and Operations teams, Media team, as well as external agencies & external creators.
 

WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR

As a Lead, Global Brand Narrative & Writing, you’ll be asked to bring the triumph and teamwork, the pace and poetry of sport, to storytelling. You’ll use the power of words to add nuance and tonality to brand and product marketing campaigns, partnering with cross-functional colleagues to land the big concept, then ideate and write stories that take us somewhere new. Primary tasks include deftly articulating creative concepts; crafting thoughtful and persuasive messaging systems; and pitching platform-right content strategies. As part of a small and mighty Brand Initiatives Narrative & Writing team, this role will have a focus on further developing and sustaining the NikeSKIMS brand – along with various other project assignments.

  • Deep passion and knowledge of global sport and athletes first and foremost. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in writing or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience, and training.
  • Creative ownership – experience working with Sr. Creative Directors, Art Directors, Marketing and Social partners to distill complex information, and inspire forward progress through language and ideas.
  • Proven creative mastery of advertising & editorial writing. Thorough ability to deliver outstanding copy, content, and ideas – on time and with a high standard of excellence.
  • Strong strategic communication – high proficiency in effectively applying verbal skills to communicate complex ideas, aligning stakeholders with clarity and impact.
  • Collaboration & influence – proven expertise in building trust across cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Entrepreneurial drive – proficiency in identifying opportunities and driving innovation.
  • Learning mentality – ability to build on past experience with an open mind, eagerly leaning into new subject matter and navigating varied ways of working.
  • Online Culture Aptitude – adept at identifying trends, knowing what’s next, who the latest creators, athletes, and artists are – all in the interest of connecting with the NikeSKIMS target audience, meeting them where they’re at, and taking them someplace new.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

  • NikeSKIMS focus – in partnership with Brand Initiatives Narrative Director, NikeSKIMS Sr Creative Director, and Brand Marketing team, you will further articulate, develop, and bring to life the NikeSKIMS tone of voice at large, and via seasonal product campaigns.
  • A wider scope of Brand Initiatives – in addition to the above focus area, you may be tasked with taking on any and all manner of projects that come through the studio, including but not limited to Olympics, Nike x Lego, ACG, positioning of upstream Innovations, and more.
  • Executing with platform in mind – you will be accountable for executional writing across Social platforms, owned Digital surfaces, Retail toolkits, and more.
  • Collaborating with creative partners + leadership – build and deepen relationships within your project teams in order to move work forward effectively, and to develop product & consumer insights that lead to exceptional work that cuts through.
  • Sport obsession – immerse yourself in the subject matter of any project you’re on. Seek out narrative angles into the story through the lens of sport. Become a preeminent expert so that nuggets of resonant knowledge shine through at every touch point.
  • Stories grounded in athlete & product truths – exhibit traits of a skilled interviewer who brings a storytelling angle to conversations with athlete protagonists and product designers. Seek out the expertise of Product Writing colleagues for innovation stories. Champion the story on set.
  • Editing acumen – be a skilled editor with a ruthless pen, curating content and shaping multiple sources of information into a clear, concise, and on-brand story.
  • Writer’s room – proactively reach out to the Narrative & Writing colleagues around you, collaborating to explore new angles, stress-test rationale, workshop lines, and build community.
