Who We Are Looking For

We are seeking an experienced Government & Public Affairs professional to support Nike’s engagement with provincial and local governments across East China, with a particular focus on Jiangsu. This role requires a commercially minded individual contributor with strong execution capability, sound business judgment, and the ability to build and expand trusted relationships with external stakeholders.

The successful candidate will be able to identify business-relevant opportunities, secure appropriate government support, and help protect and enable Nike’s business priorities. He or she will be a trusted team player who supports Greater China GPA senior leaders in connecting business priorities with government engagement and strengthening Nike storytelling across Greater China.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 8–10 years of relevant experience in government affairs, public affairs, or a related field.
  • Experience working for multinational companies, ideally in the consumer goods and/or retail sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate government engagement into tangible business value, including policy support, resources, or funding opportunities.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across Greater China functions.
  • Excellent storytelling, communication, and executive writing skills.
  • Fluency in Mandarin and English, including strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Proven experience engaging local government stakeholders and navigating provincial or municipal government priorities.
  • Experience identifying and securing government funding, incentives, or policy support to enable business initiatives.
  • Knowledge of Nike’s organizational matrix, ways of working, and culture is a strong plus.

What You’ll Work On

As the Lead, Government & Public Affairs – East China, you will support the Shanghai-based GPA Senior Director and Principal in advancing local government engagement across East China, helping enable business growth, operational continuity, and strategic marketplace priorities.

  • Manage and deepen relationships with provincial and local government counterparts across East China, especially in Jiangsu.
  • Support the continuity of Nike CLC operations and related supply chain priorities, including relevant government subsidies and policy support.
  • Enable the smooth implementation of key marketing and marketplace activities in East China through on-site government affairs support and effective storytelling.
  • Identify opportunities to support business growth and sales priorities through appropriate government engagement and resources.
  • Build strong partnerships with Sports, Marketplace, Marketing, Sports Marketing, Supply Chain, and Communications teams.
