WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH:
The Cloud Edge, Storage, and Backup engineering teams build and operate critical infrastructure platforms that power global digital experiences. These platforms span content delivery, DNS/IPAM (DDI), cloud and on-prem storage, and enterprise backup systems across multi-cloud and hybrid environments.
You will lead a team of engineers within the India Technology Center (ITC), partnering closely with global teams, including engineering counterparts in Portland and Pacific Hub (PHK). This role reports to a Director of Software Engineering and operates in close alignment with platform owners across domains.
You will collaborate across product, cloud platform, and infrastructure teams to build and scale a unified Control Plane powered by Kubernetes and Crossplane.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
We are hiring a Software Engineering Manager to lead a team responsible for building and operating platform services across Cloud Edge, storage, and backup domains. This is a technical-first manager role, requiring strong hands-on experience in cloud-native platforms and distributed systems, along with the ability to lead and grow a team of engineers. The primary mission of this role is to design, build, and scale Control Plane capabilities, with an immediate focus on creating a Storage and Backup Control Plane, while contributing to existing Cloud Edge control planes. The ideal candidate brings strong technical depth, experience operating complex infrastructure platforms, and the ability to translate platform strategy into execution while maintaining high engineering standards.
Key Qualification:
- 12+ years of software engineering experience with 1–2 years in a technical leadership or management role
- Experience leading and developing a team of engineers (up to ~5 engineers, primarily ICs)
- Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud platforms (required) and multi-cloud environments
- Deep experience with Kubernetes-based systems and platform engineering patterns
- Experience building or operating control planes, infrastructure platforms, or developer platforms
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, and microservices architectures
- Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or Crossplane
- Experience working in DevOps/SRE models, including ownership of production systems and on-call rotations
- Proven ability to drive platform standardization, automation, and reduction of manual provisioning
- Experience enforcing security policies and governance controls at the platform level
- Strong collaboration skills with experience working across global teams and time zones
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working across infrastructure domains including content delivery (CDN), DNS/DDI, enterprise storage, and backup/recovery platforms
- Programming experience (Scala, Go, Python, or similar)
- Experience building event-driven or platform automation systems
- Exposure to AI/automation or agentic systems applied to infrastructure or operations
- Experience operating hybrid environments (cloud + on-prem)
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON:
You will lead the design, development, and operation of platform capabilities that enable standardized, scalable infrastructure management across Cloud Edge, storage, and backup domains. Your primary focus will be on building and evolving Control Plane systems, driving automation, governance, and consistency across multi-domain and multi-cloud environments.
Your responsibilities include:
- Lead and grow a team of software engineers (up to ~5), providing technical guidance, mentorship, and career development
- Drive the design and implementation of a Storage and Backup Control Plane, establishing foundational platform capabilities
- Contribute to the evolution and operation of existing Cloud Edge control planes in partnership with global teams
- Build and scale Kubernetes/Crossplane-based platform services to enable self-service infrastructure provisioning
- Standardize infrastructure workflows across domains, reducing manual effort and increasing consistency
- Implement and enforce security and governance policies across platform services
- Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code and automation-first practices
- Own operational excellence, including reliability, observability, and participation in on-call rotations
- Collaborate with global teams (including PHK) to align on platform direction and support shared services
- Identify opportunities to leverage AI and automation to improve operational efficiency and reduce toil
