WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a Director, Marketplace Planning & Mapping, GC to build the fact base that shapes where and how Nike serves consumers across the marketplace. This leader will connect consumer, city, channel, competition, retail, and commercial data to create a single view of marketplace opportunity. The role will translate intelligence into clear choices on priority cities, trade zones, retail concepts, door portfolios, capacity, and investment - enabling Marketplace Management and cross-functional leaders to make faster, more confident decisions.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

Marketplace Intelligence & Strategic Insights

  • Build and lead Nike Greater China’s marketplace intelligence capability, integrating consumer behavior, sport and lifestyle demand, city and trade-zone dynamics, channel performance, competitive activity, partner data, and internal commercial data.
  • Develop market capacity, demand forecasting, white-space, cannibalization, and scenario models to quantify opportunity by city, trade zone, street, venue, channel, and retail concept.
  • Create a consistent marketplace review covering consumer reach, market share, door productivity, fleet health, investment efficiency, competitive position, and growth potential.
  • Convert complex data into clear strategic narratives, decision frameworks, and executive recommendations for seasonal, annual, and long-range marketplace planning.

Marketplace Mapping & Fleet Strategy

  • Own Nike’s marketplace mapping methodology and tools, creating a shared, insight-led view of priority cities, trade zones, consumer missions, channel roles, and retail opportunities.
  • Lead long-range and annual fleet strategy, recommending where Nike should expand, elevate, resize, relocate, consolidate, or exit across Nike Direct and partner doors.
  • Define the role of each retail concept and door within the broader marketplace, ensuring the fleet delivers consumer access, brand distinction, productivity, and sustainable growth.
  • Partner with Marketpalce Development, Concept, Nike Stores, Partner Management, and Real Estate to assess opportunities and guide decisions from early strategy through investment approval and launch.

Data Products, Tools & Governance

  • Set the roadmap for marketplace mapping, intelligence, and visualization products in partnership with Technology, Data & Analytics, and external data providers.
  • Improve data quality, model transparency, usability, and adoption so teams can access trusted insights and make decisions at speed.
  • Establish common definitions, governance, and planning standards across geographies, channels, concepts, and business functions.
  • Identify and test new data sources, analytical approaches, and automation opportunities that strengthen foresight and site-selection accuracy.

Leadership & Influence

  • Serve as the Greater China subject-matter leader for marketplace structure, consumer access, city potential, channel roles, and fleet choices.
  • Influence senior leaders through fact-based recommendations, constructive challenge, and clear articulation of opportunities, risks, and trade-offs.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of marketplace intelligence and mapping professionals.
  • Connect Greater China priorities with global and geography frameworks while ensuring solutions remain locally relevant.

WHAT YOU BRING

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Data Science, Statistics, Real Estate, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in marketplace strategy, retail network planning, location intelligence, consumer insights, commercial analytics, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise-scale intelligence or planning capabilities, including team leadership, analytical product development, and executive decision support.
  • Strong understanding of Greater China’s consumer, city, retail, digital, and partner landscape; experience in sport, lifestyle, retail, or consumer brands is preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Deep expertise in market sizing, capacity modeling, geospatial analysis, consumer segmentation, retail network optimization, and scenario planning.
  • Strong command of analytics and visualization tools, mapping platforms, and modern data practices; able to define requirements without losing sight of the business decision.
  • Commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to connect consumer opportunity to revenue, productivity, profitability, and investment choices.
  • Exceptional strategic thinking and storytelling, with the ability to simplify complexity and influence senior leaders through clear, evidence-based recommendations.
  • Proven ability to lead across a matrix, align diverse stakeholders, and move from insight to action in a fast-changing environment.
  • Curious, decisive, and comfortable challenging assumptions while balancing long-term strategy with near-term business needs.
