WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You will lead Greater China Marketplace Management team and work closely with Nike Direct Stores, Account Management, Marketplace Development, Store Design, Retail Operations, Finance, and Legal team.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a strategic and commercially minded marketplace leader to shape Nike’s physical retail network across Greater China.
The Senior Director, Marketplace Management will lead the end-to-end planning and development of Nike’s physical marketplace across both Nike-owned stores and wholesale partner stores. This leader will drive where and how Nike should expand, elevate, optimize, relocate, consolidate, or exit its retail presence to strengthen consumer access, brand impact, marketplace productivity, and sustainable growth.
The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of the Greater China consumer and retail landscape, strong real estate and store development expertise, sound commercial judgment, and the ability to lead complex cross-functional work from marketplace strategy through store opening.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
· Lead Nike’s physical marketplace network strategy across Greater China, covering Nike-owned and wholesale partner stores.
· Translate consumer, brand, sport, and commercial priorities into long-term and seasonal marketplace development plans.
· Lead marketplace mapping across cities, trade zones, retail destinations, channels, competitors, and future development opportunities.
· Identify marketplace white spaces, network gaps, and opportunities to improve consumer access and portfolio productivity.
· Define the optimal roles and distribution of Nike Direct and wholesale partner stores by city, trade zone, and retail environment.
· Lead the Real Estate and Landlord Management team in identifying and securing strategically important retail locations.
· Build senior relationships with leading landlords, developers and wholesale partners.
· Oversee commercial negotiations, lease strategies, location assessments, and major portfolio decisions for Nike-owned stores.
· Lead the Construction team in delivering Nike-owned and wholesale partner store projects from feasibility through construction, handover, and opening.
· Ensure projects meet Nike’s consumer experience, brand, quality, investment, budget, and timeline expectations.
· Partner with Finance and cross-functional teams to assess business cases, capital requirements, occupancy economics, project costs, risks, and returns.
· Provide senior leadership with fact-based recommendations on marketplace opportunities, portfolio priorities, investment choices, and risks.
WHAT YOU BRING
· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, Finance, Economics, Urban Planning, Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field.
· 15+ years of progressive experience in marketplace development, retail network planning, real estate, store development, construction, portfolio management, or related areas.
· Significant leadership experience managing multiple teams or capabilities within a large, complex retail organization.
· Deep understanding of the Greater China consumer, retail, real estate, and wholesale partner landscape.
· Proven experience developing physical marketplace, retail network, city, or trade-zone strategies.
· Experience overseeing site selection, landlord engagement, lease negotiation, store construction, and portfolio development.
· Strong understanding of retail P&L, occupancy economics, capital investment, project budgets, store productivity, profitability, and return on investment.
· Strong strategic thinking, commercial judgment, and problem-solving capabilities.
· Demonstrated ability to influence senior internal and external stakeholders and align cross-functional teams.
· Proven people leadership and talent development experience.
· Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and executive storytelling skills.
· Fluency in Mandarin Chinese and English.
