WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
The Cloud Edge, Storage, and Backup engineering teams build and operate cloud-native control plane capabilities that standardize how infrastructure services are provisioned, governed, and operated across Nike. These teams partner globally to modernize legacy workflows and improve platform reliability, security, and developer experience. You will work with lead engineers, engineering managers, product partners, and global platform teams to deliver reusable control plane capabilities. This role is based in the Nike India Technology Center and collaborates with teams in Beaverton and PHK to support architecture alignment, platform delivery, and production operations.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Nike is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build cloud control plane capabilities across Cloud Edge, Storage, and Backup platforms. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys writing production- quality Go, working with Kubernetes, and helping teams move toward declarative, automated infrastructure management.
The ideal candidate has strong software engineering fundamentals, practical cloud experience, and experience delivering reliable services in production. They should be comfortable contributing to design, implementing platform capabilities, supporting on-call operations, and collaborating across distributed teams.
• 5-7+ years of professional software engineering experience building cloud infrastructure platforms, control plane capabilities, distributed systems, or backend services.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Go and Kubernetes, including APIs, services, deployment patterns, or platform integrations.
• Experience with AWS and Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform; Crossplane experience is strongly preferred and Azure experience is a plus.
• Experience supporting production software, participating in on-call rotations, and improving reliability through automation and observability.
• Ability to collaborate on technical designs, write maintainable code, participate in code reviews, and communicate clearly across global teams.
• Rust programming experience or exposure to Kubernetes controller/operator development is a plus.
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
You will design, build, test, and operate Kubernetes-native control plane capabilities that help modernize infrastructure provisioning. You will contribute to declarative, policy-driven platform services that improve automation, reliability, governance, and developer self-service across multiple infrastructure domains.
• You will build Go-based services, APIs, platform integrations, and Kubernetes-native components that support reusable control plane capabilities.
• You will contribute to Crossplane compositions, Infrastructure as Code workflows, and declarative provisioning models across Cloud Edge, Storage, and Backup domains.
• You will help migrate manual or legacy provisioning workflows into automated, policy-driven platform capabilities.
• You will write tests, participate in code reviews, improve documentation, and support safe release practices for production systems.
• You will partner with lead engineers and managers to clarify requirements, evaluate implementation options, and deliver maintainable technical solutions.
• You will support production operations, on-call rotation, observability improvements, and incident follow- up actions.
• You will look for opportunities to use automation and AI-assisted engineering workflows to reduce toil and improve team productivity.
