FW Materials Developer II - ACG

 ACG, spelled “All Conditions Gear,” continues to lead Nike in considered apparel design for outdoor use. With a focus on location-based storytelling and a commitment to sustainability, ACG inspires communities around the world to be themselves in the outdoors.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

You will partner with WHQ Material Development Community and PCC(Product Creation Center)/Factory material team to provide transparency when issues or concerns arise and you'll collaborate on a resolution. You'll serve as the primary contact for vendors as it relates to material specific issues (price, technical specs, performance). You will collaborate with product creation team, innovation and sourcing to provide training and education as well as standard methodologies to enable informed decision making.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking an experienced Material Developer II  in PMO to help differentiate ACG product in the marketplace through materials excellence! You will provide tools, palettes, and data across multiple material types to enable effective materials selection for end-use and dimensions’ ease of use. You'll present facts and solutions clearly, with product creation & consumer in mind, so the team can make informed decisions!

  • Bachelors degree in Materials, Chemistry, or related field or two additional years; experience in lieu of a degree

  • Minimum 5+ years directly relevant experience in Consumer Product and or Footwear  Manufacturing 

  • Has education background or working experience & knowledge in materials, manufacturing, and creation

  • Preferred to have deep understanding and knowledge about textile engineering/ construction and/or synthetic, natural leather & sustainable materials as well as waterproof material management for outdoor shoe.

  • Need to work with material suppliers with technical/testing/supply support and information and be able to communicate on behalf of Nike needs.

  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with an ability to articulate goals and objectives.

  • Willing to travel to overseas.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

  • The successful candidate will drive adherence to the product creation calendar to ensure seasonal materials are developed, tested and commercialized on time to ensure production buy ready.

  • Manages the materials creation process from initial concept through to commercialization and production for assigned materials to lead to on time delivery, and materials development according to critical dates, product specification, sustainability, and performance and profitability goals.

  • Capable to lead project and communication among different counterparts.

  • Creates and revises appropriate documentation for assigned materials; ensures all appropriate development documentation is maintained including product specs and prototypes.

  • Tracks and facilitates sampling and prototyping for materials; identifies and addresses key issues and challenges in manufacturing and plans accordingly to deliver proven and tested materials.

  • Monitors and communicates challenges throughout the testing process to meet materials integrity requirements.

  • Keeps abreast of market trends, new technology and consumer preference.

  • Serves as a technical advisor on materials to function team.

  • Time management to drive Project Initiative & Project Management.
