Nike Greater China is seeking a seasoned and highly motivated lawyer to join its legal team in Shanghai. This lawyer will provide timely, practical, and efficient legal advice and support for Nike’s technology and digital projects, empowering tech innovation, digital transformation, and successful deployment of technology solutions. The role will involve working closely with Nike Technology, Corporate Information Security, and the broader legal department to deliver exceptional legal services on tech-related projects across Greater China and other global regions. Candidates with solid experience and expertise in these areas are highly preferred.
You will report to the Director, Assistant General Counsel, Global Technology and work alongside a broad legal team in Greater China, North America and other regions.
Key Highlights of the Position:
As an integral part of this role, you will:
- Gain in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in tech infrastructure and solution counselling, cross-border tech planning, tech compliance, digital compliance, and data security by collaborating with experts in the legal and technology departments, as well as cross-functional teams in Greater China and other global regions.
- Participate deeply as a core legal member in the design, development, and deployment of innovative technologies such as algorithms, GenAI, open-source projects, and other cutting-edge tech explorations.
- Gain significant exposure to technology operations of major multinational companies and learn how advanced technology enables disruptive business innovations, enhances consumer engagement, and improves operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
- Support the brainstorming, design, and development of technology solutions, working closely with tech and business partners to understand how tech enables business growth and exploring industry best practices to provide viable solutions.
- Implement tech compliance in areas such as cybersecurity, data security, content moderation, AI compliance, and open-source compliance. This includes handling filings, certifications, security assessments, and other formalities required by Chinese regulators, as well as responding to government inquiries, inspections, and challenges when necessary.
- Support tech and business partners in managing consumer-facing applications and build strong relationships with multiple platforms, app stores, and key stakeholders in the China digital ecosystem.
- Stay up to date with China’s technology laws and regulations, regulatory practices, and developments. You will develop a comparative understanding of tech regulations across major jurisdictions and provide global partners with a deep insight into China’s legislative and regulatory landscape.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- A strong passion for technology innovation and a deep interest in how technology drives business transformation and enhances consumer satisfaction.
- Solid understanding of technology-related legal areas, including compliance with data security, cybersecurity, AI, open-source licensing, and other digital regulations.
- Strong business acumen with a proactive approach to problem-solving. Demonstrates a keen sensitivity to business needs and is focused on helping the business overcome challenges, rather than avoiding risks.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and independently in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and adapting to changing circumstances.
- Proven experience in building and maintaining strong relationships with cross-functional teams, business partners, and stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with a practical, solution-oriented approach to problem-solving.
- Law degree from a top law school (China or oversea) and admission to practice law in China.
- 6-8 years of legal practice experience in the internet, digital, and technology sectors, ideally with a background in a leading international or China law firm.
- Native Mandarin speaker with fluency in English, both spoken and written, with strong legal drafting skills in English.
