Nike’s global supply chain is continually evolving new models to meet the needs of the consumer. We are looking for an experienced attorney to join our growing Legal team as Assistant General Counsel and support the business as it develops strategic, enterprise-wide projects that unlock more flexible manufacturing and product delivery capabilities for the end-to-end supply chain responsibly, using the latest innovations and technology, and all while continuing to maximize efficiencies for the business. We think of Legal as Nike’s offensive line, and our new AGC will leverage legal expertise, critical thinking skills, team mentality and a bias for action to keep our team advancing down the field.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

As Assistant General Counsel – Supply Chain, you will provide legal support for Nike’s end-to-end supply chain team.  This includes:

  • Structuring, drafting, reviewing, negotiating and providing advice with regard to a wide range of commercial agreements and documents relating to business transactions involving the company, including contracts supporting sourcing and manufacturing contracts, technology, and global distribution, logistics and transportation for NIKE and its global subsidiaries
  • Identifying legal issues, providing analysis of legal risks, creating and implementing solutions structured to meet new business objectives flexibly and efficiently, while establishing legal protections that enable the business to move forward with confidence
  • Working cross-functionally across legal, finance and controlling, tax, customs and trade, technology and procurement teams, both domestically and internationally, to identify risks and help implement effective enterprise-wide solutions for the business
  • Selecting, retaining and managing outside legal counsel to ensure high-value, cost-effective representation
  • Working closely with the Global Contracting Office to develop templates, playbooks and processes to support the efficient delivery of legal services in the subject areas you support
  • Supporting other department needs as necessary

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?

You will join the Global Supply Chain and Sustainability legal team within our Supply Chain, Trade and Compliance COE. You will partner with legal subject matter experts in areas such as Technology, Privacy, Customs & Trade and Competition law. And you will regularly engage with our non-US teammates supporting Nike’s Geographies and Territories. Due to the volume of work, you will also be asked to leverage outside counsel and Nike’s Global Contracting Office, and be continually challenged to meet volume challenges efficiently so you are able to focus on key issues that are most impactful to the business.

WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE

  • Juris Doctorate from a well-respected US law school, or its equivalent from a leading non-US institution
  • Member, in good standing, of at least one US State Bar and willingness to meet the requirements of membership in the Oregon State Bar
  • Minimum 5-7 years' experience in a transactional practice that includes significant exposure to supply chain, customs and trade, and technology issues.
  • Law firm and in-house experience in one or more of the following specialty areas is preferred: a variety of commercial and complex transactions, supply chain, sustainability.
  • Prior in-house experience with transactional, supply chain and sustainability experience is preferred.
  • An ability to communicate effectively and succinctly, both verbally and in writing, with technology and business personnel at all levels.
