WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH 

The One Publishing Team sits within Global Communications, where the team obsesses great Nike storytelling, both internally and externally. The team seeks disruption, values dexterity, displays initiative and elevates the thinking of the Global Communications team in service of better storytelling. 

 

The role will report into the Vice President, One Publishing, and will manage six employees and various agency relationships. The Creative Director role sets the creative vision for the function, provides guidance to teammates creating visual storytelling and leads the team executing multi-media creation and design. 

 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR 

The Creative Director, One Publishing, brings big picture thinking, an editorial point of view and spirit of exploration to all projects. The candidate understands brand creative, media relations, publishing and the content creator landscapeand how creators are using assets from brands like NIKE, Inc. to build their own content.  

 

The ideal candidate needs:  

  • 10+ years professional experience in leading creative roles in advertising, publishing or at large brands, with preference for candidates who have experience working large national or global organizations. 

  • Bachelor's degree in design or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training  

  • 3-5+ years of managerial experience; strong leadership skills and the ability to clearly communicate ideas; deliver clear, actional feedback to deliver exceptional work; and influence plans across team members and leadership levels 

  • A design background with a career built on concepting, storytelling and shaping unforgettable work. 

  • Experience creating compelling assets and content whether it's written, video, photography, data visualization, graphic design, curated experiences, etc. that invokes an emotional connection 

  • Drive and curiosity to explore the unknown, embrace ambiguity and create what's never been done before 

 

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON 

From creating content for Communications-owned channels like The Record – Nike’s digital magazine on about.nike.com – to setting design standards, driving a progressive visual center and shaping web-based content for the function, this role is crucial to helping Nike become one of the world’s best multimedia storytellers. You’ll lead a high-performing team that's defining the look of Communications storytelling, and you’ll further develop the team’s creative capabilities, so they continue to redefine the look of sport.  

 

Your role helps shape the future of storytelling at Nike, with a focus on creative design and multimedia content. You will accomplish this through:  

  • Establishing a forward-looking creative vision for Nike Communications from our external storytelling to our internal employee engagement befitting an innovation company 

  • Overseeing the creation of compelling multimedia storytelling elements that elevate the Nike company narrative 

  • Leading a team that brings art direction, creative guidelines and innovative thinking to the creation of communications-specific visual assets, along with creating impactful in-person and digital experiences that drive media coverage or increase employee pride 

  • Identifying the most compelling stories that Nike has to offer which can come from the athletes and communities we serve; the products, services and innovations we create; our approach to design and methods of make; and the employees who are a part of our global enterprise 

  • Seeking inspiration through research, in-person experiences, network-building, trend and insights analysis, etc., in service of developing more compelling storytelling
