WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

As the Product Development Director of our Taiwan team, you will manage Product Developers and drive our product excellence vision, strategy, and execution. You will also be an important leader in the Nike Taiwan office. You need to influence, motivate, energize, and inspire a global organization, including team members in the USA and across Asia. You have a track record of working successfully with multiple teams across cultures, languages, and distances. Additionally, you can work across functional teams with clarity, an enterprise approach, and an eye for growth and serving the athlete (or consumer) at an industry-leading level.

You will revolutionize our processes and tools, forging strong relationships with internal Nike teams and external partners to bring groundbreaking innovations that meet consumer needs. You will champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within your team, fostering a culture where everyone thrives.

As a mentor and guide, you will nurture talent development within the Product Dev function. This position will set the vision for growth opportunities and competitive advantages in product development.

You will craft short-term and long-term strategic plans to deliver revolutionary product development, ensuring product readiness for Initial Production Week (IPW), and continually providing our consumers with the greatest footwear in the world.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Communicate vision & purpose through strategic thinking and future visioning 

  • With in-depth knowledge of product creation and manufacturing processes for consumer products and/or materials, bring new innovations inline seamlessly

  • Serve as the bridge between our Taiwan partner PCCs and Nike WHQ to drive product excellence and troubleshoot product issues across time zones

  • Ensure the product development teams deliver on time products according to critical dates, product specifications, sustainability, performance, and profitability goals.

  • Provide leadership to Nike’s professional staff and model leadership defined competencies

  • Develop departmental plans, including business, production and/or organizational priorities

  • Make decisions guided by resource availability and functional objectives

  • Identify and resolve sophisticated technical, operational and organizational problems

  • Accountability for talent management and may provide input into succession planning and resourcing decision for direct and indirect reports including the performance and results of related subject areas and departments

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH?

You will report to the Senior Director, Product Development Taiwan. You’ll play a critical role connecting WHQ functional teams with our Nike team and Partner Product Creation teams in Taiwan. You will be part of the Taiwan Product Development leadership team building trust, collaborating, and ensuring alignment against strategies.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING?

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience or training as well as 8 years of relevant work experience

  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills with an ability to clearly articulate and understand strategy, goals and objectives.

  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including ability to empower and inspire experienced individual contributors in the function as well as demonstrated ability to lead an organization through transition and change.

  • Must have an Innovator’s demeanor: a high tolerance for ambiguity, while being Confident/Risk Taker, Creative/Innovator, Open Minded, Agile, Flexible, Resilient, Passionate and Solutions-Oriented

  • Enterprise problem solver with the ability to understand – and effectively engage with – different Nike teams in WHQ, PCC and offshore.

  • An established understanding and connection to ways of working, people and processes across Product Creation at Nike WHQ

  • Ability to effectively work within a complex matrix org structure and influence timely decision-making.

  • Current working knowledge of Nike’s footwear construction, material properties, and inline product creation processes to include design, development, research, testing, engineering, materials, sustainability, and manufacturing

  • Consistently demonstrates a positive, highly collaborative, and solution-oriented demeanor.
