WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You will work with relevant internal and external teams to socialize the chemical compliance framework and process outlined in the Nike Chemistry Playbook & Restricted Substances List. You will work with legal, product safety, and compliance teams as subject matter expert on chemistry. You will work with tech teams, data teams, vendor managers, chemical engineers, and others to continually evolve our material and product chemistry compliance programs. You will work extensively within chemistry focused industry collaborations to drive progress and best practices.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a candidate with extensive chemistry knowledge of materials and production processes in our industry. They will bring excellent communication skills across multiple stakeholders, a proven ability to work cross-functionally, and the ability to influence different cultures and leadership levels. Candidate success will depend on an ability to quickly form professional relationships with colleagues, understand and implement solutions to complex chemistry requirements, and provide concise, actionable chemistry guidance to the organization. The candidate will be adept at working collaboratively within industry groups to achieve results that continually improve tools and standards for the industry.

The candidate will bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience or training (science, math, materials science or engineering preferred), with master’s degree or equivalent preferred.

  • A minimum of 6 years directly relevant work experience

  • 5+ years of experience with product chemistry in related supply chains preferred

  • Experience in laboratory analyses is a plus

  • Superior quantitative and analytical problem-solving skills

  • Expert in setting program goals and managing strict timelines

  • Strongest sense of responsibility and ethics

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Experience working across diverse groups and tailoring communications appropriately

  • History of successful engagement in industry collaborations or trade organizations

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

In this role you will be the program lead for our product and material chemistry compliance program. You will work on evolving our approach to ensure material and product chemistry compliance on a global scale and be the subject matter expert connecting directly with business partners and the supply chain on chemical compliance topics. You will develop new approaches to meet the evolving regulatory landscape and be responsible for the annual update of our Chemistry Playbook & Restricted Substances List, along with the tools/training to support.  You will be responsible for engaging within chemistry focused industry groups to continually improve chemical management and compliance frameworks.

On any given day you will work on:

  • Evolving our chemistry compliance program to ensure global market access

  • Collaborate with teams on chemical phase outs and drive year on year progress

  • Provide subject matter expertise on product and process chemistry

  • Present program updates to multiple levels of the business

  • Training teams and socializing chemistry compliance requirements

  • Maintain, update and scale supplier focused training programs

  • Leverage critical thinking to solve complex challenges

  • Advancing our work within industry collaborations
