WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

The Materials Sourcing team sits within the Material Supply Chain (MatSC) organization. The Materials Sourcing team shapes the source base of materials suppliers that manufacture the thousands of materials within Nike’s Footwear supply chain. The team is comprised of strategic thinkers who advance our mission of driving outsized opportunity across materials lead-time, cost, quality, and sustainability while integrating strategy and mitigating risk of source base disruption.

You will partner closely with:

  • AP NXT Innovation

  • FW NXT Innovation (Upper System)

  • Footwear Material Development

  • Global Apparel Material 

  • Materials Supply Chain teams including Material Sourcing, Materials Costing, Materials Planning, Materials Manufacturing, and Partner Management

  • T1 Footwear Sourcing 

  • T1 Apparel Sourcing 

  • Global Supply Planning

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for a strategic and self-starting individual to stand-up new sourcing strategies for footwear and apparel materials, driving collaboration with internal and external teams to launch and scale material innovation into the marketplace. Materials are critical to Nike and there’s a need for a cohesive strategy across source base, cost, resiliency, risk, and sustainability. The ideal candidate will be a team player, someone who is comfortable navigating ambiguity and working cross-functionally, and able to communicate strategy to both technical teams as well as senior leadership. This person will be comfortable thinking outside the box and will work collaboratively to achieve results.

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, engineering or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training.

  • 5+ years of Materials, Sourcing, Costing, or relevant experience in Manufacturing

  • Strong material expertise in the Footwear or Apparel industry required

  • Great knowledge of material suppliers landscape, with technical manufacturing expertise

  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to go the extra mile to find solutions

  • Must be comfortable with navigating ambiguity, and have the ability to navigate through a complicated stakeholder matrix to achieve results and drive strategic decision-making

  • A team player to work collaboratively cross-functionally, with excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong growth mindset

  • Advanced MS Excel and MS PowerPoint skills

  • Cultural awareness and a champion for diversity, inclusion, and belonging

  • Ability to travel 5%

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

As part of the Material Sourcing team, you will

  • Work closely with Innovations teams to understand the landscape of what’s coming next in materials for both Footwear and Apparel.

  • Drive the cross-functional collaboration on behalf of the Material Supply Chain with Innovation teams, finished goods teams, and materials teams to ensure a successful initial marketplace launch of material innovations.

  • Establish a sustainable collaboration model with cross-functional teams, including clear roles and responsibilities for each function, and processes and activities that align to the consumer code.

  • Develop and deploy material sourcing strategies to scale innovation into inline products, including supplier evaluation and scalability assessment, leveraging cross-functional support for critical inputs such as material forecast, vendor capacity, costing and commercial agreements.

  • Provide timely updates on material innovations, launches, scalability readiness, constraints, and any relevant key insights to supply chain stakeholders.
