WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
Reporting to the Director, J30 Process Management, Japan, this role will gain a wide variety of exposure in this role by partnering with cross functional teams in Nike Japan, Asia Pacific Latin America (APLA), Global, external consultants and third-party logistics (3PL) provider. You will be critical in making recommendations for business model optimizations to the Japan Leadership Team (JLT) including Supply Chain, DSM (Demand Supply Management), Nike Direct Retail team while acting as the key change agent with the broader Nike Japan organization.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for someone that can lead and drive the change required to Create the Future of Sport through J30 Greenfield Program in Tokyo, Japan. You will lead the team to create the Material Handling Equipment (MHE) within the new Nike Japan Greenfield brand-new DC from design stages through implementation.
Minimum 8 to 9 years of supply chain experience required. Distribution Center (DC) process and MHE design/implementation/activation/stabilization experience also required.
Strong written and verbal communication skills both in Japanese and English required. Required to present and facilitate group discussion in both languages.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience or training.
Strong visual and verbal communication skills fluent in Japanese and English.
Experience with NLS (Nike Logistics System), lean process, TPS (Toyota Production System) or an equivalent is a plus.
Experience with Warehouse Management System (WMS), Warehouse Execution System (WES) and Warehouse Control System (WCS) required. Experience in Manhattan preferred.
Ability to effectively communicate to leadership to influence decision making and implement project deliverables. Flexibility to drive tasks with minimal information.
Project team leadership/ coaching skills and ability to collaborate at all levels with experience in aligning cross-cultural, cross-functional, and virtual teams.
Understanding of Nike business processes including Logistics, Marketplace Operations, and Planning are preferred.
Ability to work across time zones (e.g. Portland, United States, and Europe, United Kingdom, Belgium, Netherlands).
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
You will work with cross-functional team members to create and implement efficient, flexible, and scalable DC MHE processes using NLS methodologies.
Facilitate cross-functional MHE finalizing design workshops designing the processes within the 4 walls of the DC including but not limited to inbound, QA, pick, pack, shipping, and returns.
Work with Nike teammates, third-party MHE integration partner and external consultants to develop and design DC MHE processes.
As an expert in NLS methodology (Nike Logistics System), utilize the expertise to ensure MHE design together with DC processes are NLS compliant.
Work with teams in other DCs (both in Japan and Globally) to understand best practices.
Evaluate automated warehousing solutions providing feedback and pros/cons vs various process solutions.
Supervise MHE manufacturing & construction process and progress and also MHE testing process and result with issue resolution and workaround.
Lead MHE activation process and work on issue resolution with workaround if necessary.
Lead MHE stabilization phase with MHE integrator to minimize duration from activation to stabilization.
Establish MHE maintenance scheme and manage maintenance contract process to achieve suitable maintenance program in place.
