WHO ARE WE LOOKING

We’re looking for an impact driven self-starter. The candidate will lead a high performing team and collaborate closely with our Global procurement team located in the US to develop joint strategies and identify global procurement opportunities.

In this role, a strategic mentality is key - a person who can see possibilities and translate them into breakthrough actions from category strategies for the GC/AP Marketing categories – Media, Creative & Production, Digital, Retail Marketing and Events. This person will be a real thought-partner to all Senior Leadership in the Geo Marketing team ; therefore we are looking for a candidate with a strong ability to build strong business relationships and to position procurement as value-add function.

The ideal candidate should have a strong procurement category management expertise to provide thought leadership and formulate strategic sourcing approaches that optimize spend across demand, supply and process levers. The candidate should also have a deep experience in all Marketing categories as well as strong understanding of the Marketing processes overall. Strong communications skills and story-telling ability will be essential to effectively influence the various stakeholders within a global matrix organization.

WHAT WILL YOU WORK ON

As a Nike Category Director, you will partner with Senior business leaders and Global Procurement colleagues to deliver & implement category strategies & sourcing activities to support our global & regional marketing initiatives.

Some of the key tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Assess Nike’s business needs and their reflection through Marketing plans to ensure marketing procurement’s objectives are always aligned with business stakeholders’ reality

  • Build trusting and collaborative relationships with senior executives across multiple teams on a global basis

  • Support sourcing team to drive TCO approach & develop sourcing strategies in partnership with internal stakeholders

  • Develop negotiation strategies and support contract negotiations with suppliers and internal stakeholders

  • Ensure supplier relationship management established with key Marketing agencies

  • Establish clear goals and guidance to achieving diversity, inclusion and accessibility within the agency roster portfolio 

  • Partner with other business teams such as Controlling, Business Planning & Legal.

  • Develop, communicate and administrate team performance and development plans and appraisals

  • Develop and implement procurement-related training programs for the procurement team and organization

WHO WILL YOU WORK WITH

This position reports directly to the Senior Director Procurement for Nike’s Greater China and Asia Pacific & Latin America (based in Shanghai, China). The role is a member of Greater China Procurement Leadership Team. This role will also work closely with the Global Procurement Marketing team to build impactful category strategies for the GC/APLA Geos.  Key functional partners are leaders of Nike’s Marketing, Marketplace, Finance, and Legal.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 10+ years’ experience in Marketing Procurement, with 3+ years of people management experience in related industry; preferably in Consumer Goods

  • Deep understanding of GC/AP Marketing agency landscape incl. Media, Creative and Events in Geos and globally

  • Has demonstrated experience with marketing procurement engagements with an ability to effectively interpret and work with marketing-based contract terms and related documents

  • Leadership experience in international environment, with strong influencing and communication skills

  • Proven experience consulting with business partners, including independently identifying business partner needs, developing action plans, identifying deliverables, and presenting results.

  • Experience in financial planning and spend management practices such as demand management, compliance management, supplier collaboration and/or performance management

  • Strategic innovative thinking and the ability to understand and translate company strategies and operational business needs into future capabilities

  • A team leader and team player with proven record of inspiring people to innovate, take calculated risk, coach and support them through the process.

  • Ability to adapt quickly and make an impact in a rapid paced environment

  • Passionate for the NIKE brands, mission, values and paths

  • Comfortable using electronic procurement and sourcing tools such as Coupa

  • Excellent verbal and written communication in the English and Chinese language

  • IIAPS qualification or other related procurement certification is a plus

  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA a plus
