Nike is always on the offense and constantly innovating. We are looking for a Sr. Chemical Engineer to join the Nike Manufacturing and Chemical Engineering Team within Footwear Supply chain at Phil H Knight to help make EPIC (Emotion Performance Iconic Craft) footwear for the world’s best athletes*. A successful candidate is a self starter and will build knowledge of the company, product, materials, processes and consumers, solve a range of product creation and engineering problems and analyze possible solutions using standard procedures.
WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON
In this role, you will lead and drive strategic underfoot solutions aligned with Nike Inc innovation strategy acting as functional expert in the Chemical Engineering. You will be accountable for ensuring progress against Nike’s strategic goals and adherence to Nike’s manufacturing and quality standards. You will demonstrate expertise in data analysis, solving complex engineering problems and recommending appropriate corrective actions.
You will utilize Chemical and Process Engineering knowledge and apply towards design, development, and scale up of new products and processes. You will perform product and process development engineering work in one or more general engineering functions, including Chemical, Material, Innovation and Mechanical. You will develop expertise in bottom-making technology to identify and resolve potential manufacturing issues in development.
WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
You will join a team that designs and develops new technologies, materials and manufacturing processes to create the world’s best athletic footwear. You will work closely with global cross-functional teams in the Nike organization as well as manufacturing partners and material suppliers.
You will be working with Nike leadership and factory teams to ensure best practices are implemented at our factories, utilizing chemical and process engineering knowledge to apply research towards the design, development, and scale up of new products and processes with the highest quality.
WHAT YOU BRING
Bachelors, Masters or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Polymers, or other related sub-specialty field or a minimum of 5 years directly relevant work experience
Ability to think strategically and drive strategic priorities in a technical environment
Proven ability to work in diverse teams in a development or manufacturing setting and thrive
Ability to lead projects and project teams through openness and honesty and have the courage to make tough calls when needed
Proficient problem solver with a highly developed ability to deal with ambiguity
Ability to lead multiple complex projects concurrently and prioritize work according to potential impact with agility to switch priorities as circumstances require
Must have a consumer focused, collaborative approach to working and ability to give clear direction to internal and external partners
Experience with data analysis tools such as Minitab, Statistica, Excel and Design of Experiments (DOE) is a plus
