WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking a curious, hands-on, and digitally fluent 3D/Digital Technician to support the operations of the Jordan Concept Lab—our internal hub for rapid prototyping, 3D printing, and physical exploration. This is a role designed for someone who loves to build, experiment, and learn. You’ll play a key role in accelerating our prototyping speed, supporting footwear innovation, and helping translate digital concepts into tangible objects.
This position is ideal for a technically-minded creative with experience in 3D printing, modeling, or hands-on prototyping—and a long-term interest in design, product creation, or brand storytelling. You’re equal parts maker and thinker, and you thrive when you’re bridging the gap between concept and craft. This role is a launchpad. It’s designed for someone who’s ready to build with their hands, think with their head, and grow into a long-term creative contributor at Jordan Brand
WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
- You’ll work closely with 3D Designers, Product Creation teams, Innovation, and Footwear Design. You’ll also collaborate with external vendors and internal partners to maintain uptime, deliver prints, and evolve how the Concept Lab supports creative teams
- You’ll be the go-to resource for executing 3D print jobs, maintaining lab tools, and helping the studio move faster from idea to object
WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON
- Manage daily operations of 3D printers and prototyping tools—ensuring machines are clean, functional, and optimized
- Work alongside designers on creating early stage concepts.
- Lead orientations on studio equipment and processes, for safety, and general policies and procedures
- Execute and post-process 3D print jobs, working from CAD files provided by designers or engineers
- Collaborate with design teams to prepare files, troubleshoot geometry, and meet print timelines
- Help document and evolve Concept Lab processes and workflows for speed and reliability
- Explore new materials, methods, and tools that expand our prototyping and visualization capabilities
- Learn from and support the 3D design team, growing your own skills in modeling, rendering, and digital storytelling
- General studio organization, care, and clean up.
- Identify new technology, equipment, manufacturing, and other methods of make related to 3D design, digital design tools, and shop fabrication.
- Work with Building Facilities Manager and Vendors to make sure all machines, equipment, and supplies are working and fully stocked.
WHAT YOU BRING
- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training
- Experience with 3D printing (FDM, SLA, SLS, etc.) and digital fabrication tools
- Working knowledge of CAD modeling tools (e.g., Rhino, Fusion 360, Blender, SolidWorks), 3D printers, laser cutters, vacuum formers, etc
- Comfort with physical prototyping, model finishing, and workshop tools
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills; comfortable working independently
- Passion for footwear, design, and brand culture—plus a desire to grow into a creative role over time
- Curiosity, initiative, and the ability to learn on the fly in a fast-paced creative environment
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively with diverse groups of people.
- Be able to accomplish multiple tasks in a fast-paced less corporate environment
- Be proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Ability to exercise high degree of professionalism.
- Be ok with flexible/non-concrete deadlines
- Physical requirements include the ability to twist, bend, lift, squat, reach, climb a ladder, and stand for extended periods of time
Irregular work hours:
- This job may require irregular work hours and/or varied work schedule from week to week due to 3D printing time on machine and last min deadlines
