Who You Will Work With
This role reports to the Senior Director of Marketplace Sustainability (based in EMEA) and will be a member for the Global Marketplace Sustainability leadership team within Nike’s Global Sustainability function. This role works directly with geography marketplace sustainability leads, and partners with all functions under Nike Direct (Stores, Digital), Global Sales, and wholesale account teams. You will collaborate across the matrix with key partners in Marketing, Design, Technology, Operations, Product, and Innovation in addition to colleagues from across Sustainability.
Who We Are Looking For
Nike is looking for an experienced Senior Principal to support Nike’s sustainability offense by driving, leading, and carrying out the strategy for an end-to-end marketplace offense across Nike Direct & Marketplace Partners, with a focus on the strategic priorities of products and services. We are seeking an individual who is self-motivated, driven, and passionate about fueling sustainable growth at Nike through the integration of sustainability into the commercial marketplace. This role requires a systems-level, creative problem solver who can flex between strategy and execution and communicate across diverse functional stakeholders to effectively influence and shape business priorities.
The candidate will bring:
- Bachelor's degree or higher; or combination of relevant education, experience and training
- A minimum of 9+ years relevant work experience in retail, digital, strategy, and/or program management with proven work in sustainability
- Specific experience driving sustainability priorities in large CPG company preferred
- Management-level strategic planning and performance management experience
- Strong commercial and business acumen with superior quantitative and analytical problem-solving skills
- Subject matter expertise in circular products and services, consumer-facing sustainability campaigns, and strategic partnerships
- Seasoned program manager, able to organize and plan complex topics.
- Strong influence skills, with the ability to champion complex projects across the organization.
- Proven ability to lead collaboration across diverse teams within a large matrixed organization and inspire confidence to motivate groups collectively to meet common objectives
- Strategic vision and entrepreneurial drive, with a bias for action and a test and learn approach
- Self-directed and comfortable working in ambiguous environments to make informed and objective decisions
- Exceptional verbal and visual communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills to inspire and motivate others
- Results-driven with high comfort with managing through ambiguity and within dynamic business environments
What You Will Work On
Nike is working to integrate sustainability into all commercial functions and consumer experiences with the brand. This role is key to supporting the enterprise in powering our consumer connection to protect the future of sport and strengthen our position in the marketplace. You will wear many hats, including:
- Represent the Marketplace Sustainability strategy in global forums when the Senior Director is unavailable
- Support development of key strategies and roadmaps, prioritization, and socialization across the enterprise (CSR, QBR, etc)
- Develop and lead a strong cross functional offense that drives alignment, functional ownership, and successful implementation of key work streams
- Continue building and strengthen the global business case for innovative circular products and services, partnering with the geographies and functional stakeholders to prioritize and implement
- Provide internal subject matter consulting support - support leaders to bring education, awareness, and integration opportunities to their teams, serving as member of extended leadership teams for Nike Direct, Retail Operations, Marketplace Partners, etc.
- Drive a measurable and scalable approach to integrating sustainability into the work of the marketplace functional teams
- Innovate to develop opportunities aligned to Nike’s business and sustainability strategy
- Support and advocate for the geography leads to evolve and scale key programs such a Nike Refurbished and the Recycling + Donation service
- Support marketplace related 2030 sustainability targets
