WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

The Bowerman Footwear Lab (BFL) is a one-stop shop for creation, collaboration, and education for the greater Nike Footwear community. They have the machines and capabilities to produce one-of-a-kind footwear prototypes in Beaverton, facilities dedicated to hosting collaborative working sessions, and staff devoted to generating best in industry training courses around footwear product creation.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for a candidate who will help shape the Footwear Production team and guide organization while helping set up processes to continuously improve our team’s function. Candidates need to have the ability to execute projects independently while gathering input from teammates to influence decision making. The candidate must thrive when working in a team setting with others who have different perspectives, backgrounds, and/or styles, and demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills. This job requires footwear knowledge to help drive decision-making and to help the Footwear Production Team execute their projects.

Additional Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, experience, and training.
  • A minimum of 2 years directly relevant work experience
  • Strong problem-solving, multitasking, and communication skills, with the ability to work in ambiguous, evolving environments.
  • Hands-on ability (or willingness to learn) to operate footwear machinery; physical capability required.
  • Proficient in tools like Airtable, Miro, and Microsoft programs; skilled in documentation and collaboration.
  • Result-driven, open-minded, and enthusiastic team player who values Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion as a key to success.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

As a Footwear Production Specialist II in the Bowerman Footwear Lab (BFL), you will support the Footwear Production team by guiding teammates, occasionally engaging in hands-on cobbling and prototype work, and driving efficiency in prototype projects through your footwear expertise. You’ll lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on process development and documentation, reporting to the Footwear Production Manager and collaborating closely with production technicians, entry-level professionals, and cross functional teams within and beyond the BFL, including Concept Engineering, Concept Creation, Product Engineering, Materials, BFL Production, and more.

  • Bridge communication between Product Development and Team Manager to guide priorities and best practices.
  • Advise the team on executing production samples using footwear knowledge and real-time analysis
  • Translate broad requests into actionable tasks and ensure alignment with quality standards.
  • Collaborate with Product Engineering to implement checkpoints and reflect on project learnings.
  • Lead continuous improvement efforts, including supply ordering, documentation, onboarding, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Support and help maintain systems for supply management and team operations
  • Assist in teaching and supporting Bowerman Creative University (BCU) classes.
  • Help train new team members and contribute to onboarding plans and documentation.
