The Supply Chain & Planning Innovation team envisions and shapes the future of Nike’s end-to-end supply chain. We achieve this by conducting rigorous research, developing and deploying strategy, offering functional development to the entire supply chain employee base, and designing and executing AI-enabled experiments.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

This role will report directly to the Director of Supply Chain & Planning Research and for specific research and strategy development projects you will be collaborating with senior leaders (Sr Directors and VPs) across Nike’s supply chain and cross-functional partners.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for an expert researcher, able to mine information from internal and external resources, synthesize the relevant findings, and articulate the conclusions in a compelling way. This role will be responsible for exploring and validating ideas as potential innovation opportunities and proposing AI-assisted solutions to address the most critical problems and highest opportunities areas for Nike’s Supply Chain.

The ideal candidate for this role needs to possess an immense passion for learning and converting that learning into well-synthesized, data-supported actionable insights. They must have hands-on experience augmenting the research process with advanced AI tools and have a passion for designing AI-enabled deep research and prompt engineering. They must be a systems thinker, understanding how decisions in one part of the system can affect other parts of the system and able to solve complex problems by examining them as a whole rather than as isolated parts so as to identify and address root causes through rigorous strategies. Given the visibility and scrutiny that their work will face, they must possess strong leadership & communication skills, an executive presence, and hands-on “roll-up your sleeves” mentality.

You Bring:

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience

Additional skills and competencies:

  • Excellent written skills, including the ability to research and craft white papers and memos

  • Excellent oral communication skills, including the ability to deliver high-impact research and strategy updates on complex topics to executive leaders (Sr Dir, VP+) on a regular basis

  • Highly results-oriented (operational experience with OKRs highly preferred) and operate with a high sense of urgency

  • Demonstrated ability to partner with executive-level professionals as a trusted advisor

  • Superior interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a global, highly matrixed, relational setting

  • Self-directed, persistent, and comfortable working in ambiguous environments

  • High level of adaptability i.e., ability to adjust own mindset, actions, and reactions to the changing environment, meeting obstacles with curiosity and resilience.  

  • Financial acumen and working understanding of financial concepts and statements

  • Familiar with the change management concepts and how to influence the organization to move forward in the decided direction.

  • Expert level prompt engineering proficiency using advanced Generative AI tools, such as Microsoft CoPilot, OpenAI Pro, Gemini Pro, and others.

  • Proven experience in developing AI agents and reengineering business workflows to maximize human-AI collaboration and drive optimal business results

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain Management or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

You will conduct explorations, rigorously evaluate hypotheses, and write position papers backed by data-driven and external due diligence. You will develop comprehensive strategies and propose paths towards operationalizing solutions to capture the estimated value at scale. You will bring senior leaders to the crossroads by recommending unconventional solutions to complex problems and articulating what it would take to implement them. You will aid with disseminating knowledge and findings across the organization and supporting the LIFT program to develop relevant skills for Nike's Supply Chain and Planning teammates.
