WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH

You’ll join Nike’s North America Communications team—an organization built on sharp storytelling, cultural fluency, and powerful relationships. This role reports to the VP, NA Communications and leads a three‑person media relations team in Los Angeles. You’ll partner closely with Global and Geo Brand Communications, Geo Consumer Media teams across NYC, London & Shanghai, Sports Marketing, Global Corporate Media Relations and key external creators, influencers, agencies, and media.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Nike is looking for a bold, seasoned and dynamic leader as comfortable shaping ideas and moments as they are managing relationships. Someone who knows how to design cultural gravity, not just respond to it.  This role sits at the intersection of sport x culture x creativity, with media relations as a powerful lever, rather than the sole definition of success.  This is a leader with deep LA credibility—someone who understands how culture travels, how influence works, and how to turn insight into impact.  They bring a consumer‑first mindset, a curiosity for the next generation of athletes and creators, and the instincts of a trusted advisor. They know how to shape a vision, rally teams, and craft narratives that move globally with speed and clarity.
They are a connector—globally minded, culturally attuned, strategically sharp, and energized by building something new.

  • Open to work in Los Angeles, CA.
  • 10–15 years of experience leading media relations, communications, or related functions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or related field. Will accept any suitable combination of education, experience and training
  • Demonstrated background in communications, media strategy, relationship management, narrative development, and leading high‑performing teams.
  • Experience partnering with and managing agencies; deep LA media and content‑creator networks and creative community; youth and relationships that will drive both earned media and social coverage and conversation.

WHAT YOU’LL WORK ON

You’ll build and activate Los Angeles as a cultural engine for the brand anchored in disruptive storytelling that will create and drive cultural impact and influence through an ecosystem of media, creators, sport, entertainment and culture.

  • Leads maximizing LA's cultural and sport capital as a key global media and creator hub; collaborating closely with global cultural cities (inc. NYC; London; Shanghai).
  • Owns and drives compelling vision for the future of LA communications, culture and influencer relations to rally and energize the team.
  • Accountable for empowering team to create content, moments, stunts, and programs that generate sustained earned and owned vitality.
