Role Overview
The Professional II, Stores Design Specialist is a global technical design role responsible for supporting the development and execution of Converse retail concepts across a global fleet (owned and/or partner doors). This role brings strong architectural and technical store design expertise to translate concept intent into detailed design deliverables, including 3D modeling and render production, construction-ready documentation support, and cross-functional coordination.
This person will partner closely with Store Concepts Manager, VM, and regional stakeholders to ensure designs are brand-right, buildable, compliant, and scalable, while maintaining a high bar for visual quality and technical accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Store Design Development
- Produce technical design deliverables that support store projects from concept through execution, including layout development, elevations, material application, fixture integration, and back-of-house planning.
- Translate concept/design direction into accurate spatial plans that account for customer journey, operational flows, accessibility requirements, and store performance needs.
- Support project documentation packages in collaboration with Brand and external partners (e.g., drawing sets, schedules, finish plans, details).
3D Modeling & Render Creation (Core Requirement)
- Create high-quality 3D models and photorealistic renders for new store concepts
- Develop visualizations that effectively communicate design intent, materials, lighting, and storytelling moments to stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- Maintain and evolve a library of reusable 3D assets (fixtures, materials, brand elements) to improve speed and consistency.
Design Standards, Tools & Quality Control
- Support development and upkeep of design standards, templates, and technical guidelines that enable consistent execution across markets.
- Review partner/adaptation drawings for alignment to design intent, technical standards, and constructability; flag risks and recommend solutions.
- Ensure design packages reflect required compliance considerations (life safety, accessibility/ADA, durability, maintenance, sustainability goals where applicable).
Cross-Functional & Partner Collaboration
- Partner with Store Concepts and Brand teams to uphold Converse brand expression in the built environment.
- Coordinate with Store Development, Construction, Operations, and VM to ensure designs are practical, cost-aware, and executable.
- Collaborate with external architects, agencies, fixture vendors, and partners to deliver on quality, timelines, and standards.
Continuous Improvement
- Capture learnings from openings/remodels to refine details, materials, and standards over time.
- Support pilot testing of new fixtures/materials and new ways of visualizing concepts to accelerate decision-making.
Required Skills & Experience
Technical & Design Expertise
- Strong foundation in architecture, interior architecture, or environmental/retail design, with proven ability to translate concept direction into technical design solutions.
- Demonstrated experience producing construction-oriented design documentation and partnering effectively with architects and construction teams.
- Strong understanding of retail-specific requirements: durability, maintainability, operations flow, merchandising needs, and customer journey.
Rendering / Visualization (Must Have)
- Proven ability to create high-quality 3D renders and compelling visualizations.
- Proficiency in relevant tools such as:
- 3D + Rendering: SketchUp + V-Ray, Rhino + Enscape, 3ds Max, Blender, Lumion, Twinmotion (or similar)
- Design + Documentation: AutoCAD, Revit (preferred), Adobe CC (Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign), Bluebeam (or similar)
- Strong graphic sensibility and attention to lighting, materials, and composition.
Work Style & Collaboration
- Clear communicator—able to present design rationale and technical trade-offs to varied audiences.
- Detail-oriented, with a consistent focus on quality and accuracy.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Architecture/Design, Industrial Design, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in retail design for global brands (multi-site rollout, adaptation frameworks).
- Familiarity with fixture development, detailing, and vendor coordination.
- Experience creating toolkits/standards and supporting concept scalability across regions
- Fluent English is required, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in both written and spoken contexts.
