WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

As our Lead Brand Merchant JD, Jordan, you will be part of the Merchandising Function. Our role is to win with consumers through anchoring our strategies in the Consumer X Field of Play (FOP) Offense, creating differentiated retail and marketplace experiences.


We obsess consumer, marketplace, competition, and partner insights to serve our consumers’ needs and our business today whilst taking a pivotal role in serving their future needs and maximizing our future capacity. This can be only be done through the strong cross functional work and partnership with the FOP Teams and wider Partner Organization.

In executing the JD assortment strategy, you will be working with multiple stakeholders across the JD Marketplace Unit (MPU), the Nike Marketplace (NMP) and Geo Consumer and GEL (Geo Express Lane) teams. As well as Global Product and Merchandising teams.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We’re looking for an experienced, bold, driven, and visionary Merchant to take the lead on the Jordan Brand business within JD across EMEA. This is not just a job, this is an opportunity to own and lead your own business unit, spanning all genders, FOPs, and product engines. If you have a deep understanding of merchandising and a proven track record in driving commercially sound and consumer-led account strategies, both seasonal and season-less, then this is your stage.

You will play a pivotal role within the Jordan Merchandising Team, serving as the key connector between the Jordan Brand’s vision (both Global and/or Geo) and JD’s strategic direction.

The role requires someone who thrives on autonomy and wants to lead like an owner. It demands sharp prioritization skills and clear ability to balance the big picture with detailed execution in order to deliver clear, forward-thinking assortment strategies that elevates the brand, deepens consumer connection, and unlocks growth.

Success in this role demands a power combination of commercial-acumen, merchandising expertise, and the ability to navigate complex cross-functional team environments through effective collaboration and communication. We’re really looking for someone who takes proactive ownership in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, bringing an entrepreneurial “Just Do It” attitude to bring mission and vision to life.

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience in Merchandising, Buying and/or Sales, demonstrating a high level of business, retail and merchandising acumen. This experience should include experience of working within an account focused MPU environment and you should be able to clearly demonstrate and articulate this

  • You will bring a clear understanding of the total EMEA marketplace, from bricks and mortar to online retail. You will also have a passion for consumer trends and how these come to life at the consumer’s moment of choice and you are able to clearly demonstrate and speak to this.

  • A consumerist mindset with strong product knowledge and with a sharp eye for detail.

  • A proven track record of delivering results and driving clear and distinct strategies.

  • Account facing experience, paired with strong negotiation and influencing skills, will be an advantage.

  • Excellent story telling and product expertise, along with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently.

  • Strong stakeholder management skills, in order to succeed in a multi faceted, cross functional role.

  • A pro-active and solution oriented approach coupled with an innovative future thinking mindset, always eager to try, test and new strategies.

  • A positive, resilient and flexible mindset, able to adapt within a fast-changing & dynamic environment.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

If this is you, you will work with multiple functions and stakeholders to bring JD’s assortment strategy to life. Working closely with your Jordan JD MPU squad you’ll develop and land your seasonal assortment plans that will bring the brand to life and elevate Jordan’s and JD’s retail experience.

You’ll closely collaborate with Consumer FOP Merchandising team and translate seasonal geo-led assortment frameworks into JD specific product offers and you’ll collaborate with your MPU sales, planning, marketing counterparts as well as the external account team to land the go-to-market strategy.

You will represent the the voice of the Jordan consumer shopping at JD, leveraging seasonal hindsight, trends, and insights to support your consumer FOP merchandising partners in future capacity and line planning.

You will also work with Global Product & Merchandising and GEO GEL teams to deliver product packages, uniquely serving the Jordan consumer shopping at JD, that strengthen Jordan’s & JD’s distinction and positioning within the Athletic Specialty marketplace.

No two days will be the same. You’ll need to constantly read and react to real-time consumer and marketplace signals in order to maximize short-term and long-term opportunities.
